Obituary:
August "Jake" William Gast, age 52, Birnamwood, died February 4, 1965 at Wausau Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 18, 1912 in the town of Birnamwood, the son of Emil and Emma (Wetzel) Gast.
Jake was united in marriage to Viola Hansen. She preceded him in death on September 22, 1953. On September 1, 1957 Jake was united in marriage to Joyce (Fuss) Godstrey in the town of Plover, she survives.
In addition to his wife and parents, survivors include three daughters, Eloda Bovee, Milwaukee, Sandra (Victor) Woolfall, Groton, CT and Pamela Gast, Birnamwood; two sons, Michael Gast, San Diego, CA and Jeffrey Gast, Birnamwood; one step-daughter, Patricia Godstrey, Milwaukee; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Arthur Gast, Shawano, John (Jeanette) Gast, West Chicago, IL and T/Sgt Herbert Gast, Ellsworth AFB, SD; six sisters, Carol (John) Wolf, Shawano, Harriet Gast, Downers Grove, IL, Frances (Arnold) Maas, Wisconsin Rapids, Elsie (William) Zerneke, Fond du Lac, Ann (Irvin) Keldsen, Minneapolis and Lorraine Cooley, Fond du Lac.
Jake was preceded in death by one brother, Fred Gast and one sister, Alvina Bell.
Funeral services were held February 7, 1965 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Birnamwood. The Rev. Walter J. Baese officiated. Interment was in Forest Cemetery, Birnamwood.
