    Obituary:
Joseph M. Mirsberger, age 88, of St. John, passed into eternal life unexpectedly, but peacefully December 19, 2008, and is now resting comfortably in the arms of the Lord. Joseph was the first born son of Joseph Sr. & Mary (Kees) Mirsberger on June 3, 1920, on their family farm. He married the love of his life, Helen Nytes, December 27, 1945, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Hollandtown. Together they enjoyed 52 years of marriage and happily raised 10 children while farming, on the family farm, one mile south of St. John. Together with Helen, Joe enjoyed lending his voice to the St. John choir, square danced with the Squares & Spares, and volunteered time at the New Holstein Salvatorian Center. Joseph was a life member of St. John the Baptist Church, St. John Holy Name Men, Catholic Knights Branch 148 and Knights of Columbus. Joseph was the past president of the St. John Cemetery Association, member of National, State, and County Holstein Breeders, and was the past president on the County level. He received the Calumet Farmer of the Year award in 1979. He received the National Progressive Holstein Breeder award 1955-1957. Joe had a fine eye for quality Holstein cattle and was the barn superintendent for the Calumet County 400 Sale. Joseph recently moved to Century Ridge Assisted Living Center in Chilton and enjoyed the staff and new friends he made. He continued to play cards with his pals on Wednesdays. He also continued to enjoy watching his grand and great-grandchildren's school sports. Joe closely followed the Badger's and Packer's football teams along with Lawrence & Coe University basketball where his grandson coaches.
Survivors include Joseph's 10 children: JoAnne (Paul) Juckem, Chilton; Kathy (Anthony) Van Handel, Appleton; Gary (Sandra) Mirsberger, Hilbert; Mary Jo Palmbach, De Pere; Carol (Dale) Hedtke of Menasha, Linda (Dave) Franz, Hilbert; Ruth (Dan) Schwalenberg, Hilbert; Paula (Dave) Schneider, Hilbert; Joyce (Dale) Hackbarth, Darboy; Larry (Barb) Mirsberger, Hilbert; 22 precious grandchildren: Patrick, Christopher, Sue, Shane, Lori, Ryan, Nick, Sarah, John, Jolynn, Kayla, Tate, Ben, Dana, Leah, Luke, Joel, Justine, Alaina, Dylan, Angela, and Kylee; 14 great-grandchildren: Emmett, Gavin, Macy, Lily, Micah, Austin, Trey, Paige, Brittany, Kendra, Amelia, Allieson, Blake, and Boyd; brothers: Edward (Marion) Mirsberger, Hilbert; and Robert (Julie) Mirsberger, Poughquag, New York; and sisters-in-law: Edith Nytes and Clara Radamacher.
