Gladys Mary Sigl, 82, formerly of Green Bay, died Monday, February 11, 2013. She was born on May 10, 1930, in Seymour, to William and Anna (Gomm) Letter.
On Sept. 17, 1949, Gladys married Roland E. Sigl at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Oneida, and they had celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1999. Mrs. Sigl was a longtime member of St. Agnes Parish. Her Catholic faith was the foundation on which she based her life. Gladys belonged to the Parish Ladies Society and was a volunteer at St. Vincent De Paul. She was an active member and served as an officer for the VFW #9409 Auxiliary. Mrs. Sigl also volunteered at Bellin Hospital where she worked at the volunteer desk. She was a longtime member of Concerned Hearts at Bellin. In 2000, Gladys joined Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family. She volunteered at the parish, making quilts. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and having friends and family over for home cooked meals. Her favorite saying was "The more, the merrier." Gladys was famous for her flapjacks and mincemeat cookies, but her passion was for her husband, her children, and all her grandchildren.
Gladys is survived by her eight children and their spouses, Andrew and Linda Sigl, White Bear Lake, MN; Theresa and John Nakai, Huntington Beach, CA; Patricia and Richard Edwards, Mechanicsville, VA; William and Susan Sigl, San Antonio, TX; Lori Sigl, De Pere; Michelle and Larry Haas, North, VA; David and Tracy Sigl, Rochester, MN; Dennis and Vicki Sigl, Greenville, WI; 19 grandchildren, Ann, Jessa, Erin, Jeffrey, Katherine, Kendall, Tracy, Nicole, Justin, William, Jessica, Kristin, Kimberly, Joshua, Jordan, Daniel, Jacob, Isabella, Matthew; seven great-grandchildren; her brother and sister-in-law, James and Bernice Letter, Green Bay; and many nieces and nephews.
