    Obituary:
The sudden death of Mrs. John W. Short at her home in Chilton town, two miles west of this city on Friday morning, Nov. 3rd, was one of universal sorrow to the community and the deepest sympathy is expressed by all for the husband and little children in their sad bereavement. On October 30th Mrs. Short gave birth to a child and was supposed to be recovering nicely until Thursday afternoon when a change for the worse took place so suddenly that her sisters and brothers could not be notified in time to reach her bedside. Her husband and mother were with her when the end came. When her condition was realized Dr. R. E. Minahan of Green Bay was summoned in the vain hope that he might do something to aid her recovery but she sank so rapidly that before he reached the Short home she had passed away.
Katherine Walsh, eldest daughter of the late Richard and Bridget Walsh, was born in Wilkesbarre Pa., Oct. 13, 1874. In 1876 she accompanied her parents to Wisconsin who located in the town of Woodville. There they remained until 1884 when they moved to the town of Stockbridge. On Nov. 8, 1899 she was married at Stockbridge to John W. Short of Chilton town and they began housekeeping on the farm on which she died.
The deceased is survived by a husband and eleven children, the eldest sixteen years and the youngest the babe for which the mother gave her life. She also leaves a mother, Mrs. Richard Walsh of Stockbridge, five sisters, Mrs. John Campbell, Miss Evelyn of Stockbridge, Mrs. Andrew Flatley of Forest Junction, Mrs. F. F. Detling and Miss Stasis Walsh of Los Angeles, California, Richard Jr., of Stockbridge, James M. and Edward A. Walsh of Milwaukee, Eugene Walsh of Appleton, all of whom, with the exception of Mrs. Detling and Miss Stasia of Los Angeles were present at the funeral.
The funeral was the largest ever held at St. Augustine's church. The Catholic Order of Foresters, the Christian Mothers and the children of St. Augustine's school attended in a body.

Catherine married Short, John W. 8 Nov 1899, , Calumet County, Wisconsin, USA. Obituary:
    RICHARD WALSH
This community has rarely been shocked to a greater degree than it was on Saturday when the report was circulated that Richard Walsh, Jr., of the town of Stockbridge had been killed by lightning on his farm during an electrical storm, shortly after six o'clock that morning. Mr. Walsh had left the house for the pasture to drive in the cows preparatory to milking and had reached a point about three hundred feet east of his house when he was struck by a bolt of lightning and instantly killed. At the time Simon Wettstein and his hired man were milking in the Wettstein barn across the road from the Walsh place and the sharp flash of lightning led then to believe that it has struck close by. They went out to see if any of their buildings had been struck and noticed a commotion among the cows across the road in Mr. Walsh's pasture. They hastened over to investigate the case and saw smoke issuing from the field nearby. As they approached the spot they found Mr. Walsh's lifeless body lying on the ground and the smoke which they saw was from the burning cloths which he wore. They extinguished the fire and examined the body for signs of life, finding that Mr. Walsh had been struck on the head by the bolt, which tore his hat to shreds and the rain coat which he wore was ripped from his body and lay ten feet from the spot where he fell. Both shoes were torn from his feet and one of them was thrown a distance of twenty feet. A watch on the person of the dead man was burned out, the hands on the same pointing to the hour of 6:10, which beyond doubt was the same time the bolt struck him. The grass nearby by was burned for twenty feet on each side of the body.
Mr. Wettstein hastened to the Walsh home and broke the sad news to Mrs. Walsh that her husband bad been badly injured. A physician was called from Stockbridge in the hopes that he might be revived but the hope was vain for the life was extinct and nothing could be done. A sad co-incidence was the fact that his death occurred on his wedding anniversary.
Richard Walsh was a son of the late Richard Walsh and was born near Forest Junction in the town of Woodville, Oct. 14, 1881. When he was two years old his parents moved to the town of Stockbridge and purchased a farm on the Bennett Road, and in that neighborhood he resided until death claimed him. After completing common schools he remained with his parents and assisted in conducting the homestead farm until he was married on June 23, 1909 to Miss Mary Dineen of Cedarburg, when he moved onto a farm adjacent to the homestead. He was energetic and ambitious, with a progressive mind, and was prospering nicely in the farm work when the deplorable accident happened. Always bright and cheerful, he drew about him friends wherever he went in the neighborhood in which he resided he was a general favorite with young and old. He was public spirited, deeply interested in civic affairs and particularly so in educational matters. He served on the board of education for several years displaying his usual efficiency in the work and last spring was elected town clerk of the town of Stockbridge.
He is survived by his widow and six children, four girls and two boys, the youngest a babe of two weeks. He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Richard Walsh, Sr., of Stockbridge and five sisters, Miss Evelyn Walsh and Mrs. John Campbell of Stockbridge, Mrs. Andrew Flatley of Forest Junction, Mrs. F. E. Detling and Miss Anastasia Walsh of Los Angeles, California, and three brothers, James and Edward A. of Milwaukee and Eugene Walsh of Appleton, all of whom were present at the funeral, with the exception of the two at Los Angeles, who were unable to get here. Obituary:
Brantmeier, Mary Agnes Mary Agnes Brantmeier, 95, Chilton, died on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at Century Ridge in Chilton. She was born Aug. 8, 1916, in the Town of Stockbridge, daughter of the late John and Anna (Walsh) Campbell. She attended Stockbridge schools and graduated from Stockbridge High School. She married Jerome Brantmeier on Oct. 11, 1938, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Stockbridge. The couple farmed together in the Town of Harrison until 1966 when they began operating Butch & Mary's Bar in Sherwood. Given Mary's enjoyment in social settings, this was a more fitting atmosphere to accommodate her love of good company and great times. Butch and Mary's continued operation until 1974, when Jerome and Mary retired and moved to Sherwood. He preceded her in death on April 3, 1997. Mary was a proud and strong Irish woman who talked frequently of her heritage. She loved her family deeply and devoted her entire life to enjoying each and every family member's presence in her life. The holidays in Mary's basement spent laughing and taking part in good cheer will never be forgotten. In her free time, Mary liked to read, watch Packers games, and spend time camping with her children. She also took every opportunity available to go out and visit old friends wherever she went. Survivors include her children, Jane (Art) Thiel, Chilton; Dick (Jan) Brantmeier, Sheboygan; Don (Mariann) Brantmeier, Chilton; Linda (Ted) Schaffer, Hilbert; Dave (Debbie) Brantmeier, Hilbert; a daughter-in-law, Mary Brantmeier, Chilton; grandchildren, Joyce Ditter, Carla Zwick, Gloria Arenz, Kellen Thiel, Lynn Stecker, Rick Brantmeier, Becky Bornemann, Suzanne Hostettler, Mike Brantmeier, Kim Hephner, Cheryl Schlater, Brenda Natrop, Brian Brantmeier, Sara Brantmeier, Scott Schaffer, Todd Schaffer, Heather Kolosso, Justin Brantmeier, Krista Henshue; 38 great-grandchildren, Nicole, Jon, Ryan, Eric, Steven, Natalie, Joshua, Bradley, Jeremy, Tyler, Nicholas, Zach, Olivia, Mackenzie, Hadley, Sawyer, Jackie, Jacob, Jessica, Jolene, Shandell, Lance, Marianna, Isabella, Gabriella, Miranda, Mitch, Emma, Abigail, Drake, Carly, Grant, Peyton, Garrett, Hannah, Matthias, Kennedy, Ireland; eight great-great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Brenna, Damian, Logan, Isaac, Kendra, Jade, Emma; and two sisters-in-law, Annie and Sallie Campbell, both of Milwaukee. Mary is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerome; a son, Tom; sisters, Genevieve, Eileen, Catherine, Doris; and her brothers, Ray, Jerome, Gerald, Jack, Gene and Bob. Obituary:
Margaret Walsh, age 92, passed away at her home in Appleton unexpectedly on Saturday evening, August 17, 2013. Margaret was born in Appleton on November 26, 1920, daughter of the late Eugene and Anna (Finnegan) Walsh. She attended the Appleton High School, as well as the local university extension and Lawrence University.
Margaret's life was one truly well lived. On a professional level, she was an inspiration to many. Filled with an entrepreneurial spirit, she rose from working out of a small room in the Zuehlke Building, to one of the first and largest telephone answering services in the Midwest. She loved adventure, travel, and the business she founded in 1949 and ran for over 40 years, Tel / Sec. But most of all, she loved her family, which consisted of her brother and sister, their children, and their grandchildren. She especially loved the little ones, no matter how many times they spilled on her carpet. She became a national leader in her industry, and served on numerous board positions in the Fox Valley. She was most rewarded by her many contributions to charity. She touched hundreds of lives by her good deeds, and was heavily influenced by her strong Catholic faith. She was an active member of St Mary's Catholic Church. She served on the Board of Directors for multiple non-profit organizations, including the Red Cross, United Way, Goodwill, CASI Foundation, St. Elizabeth Community Foundation, LEAVEN, her beloved Fox Valley Humane Association, and was the first woman chairperson at the Appleton Chamber Chamber of Commerce. In addition to serving on the board at LEAVEN, she later donated her office building for their use; it later became the home to another organization Margaret supported, NAMI. Margaret was a caring and compassionate leader. In addition to founding and running Tel / Sec, she served as president of the Outagamie chapter of the American Cancer Society , president of the Service Circle of Kings Daughters, and was the first woman president of Sales and Marketing Executives of Northeastern Wisconsin, the first woman president of the former Riverview Country Club and was the first woman board member of Associated Bank. In 1985 she started and funded C.L.A.S.P., an organization dedicated to the development of after-school programs. In 1995, she and her nephew, Rick, started Tri County Community Voice Mail in conjunction with the Salvation Army, a service to help the less fortunate find connections to jobs and housing. Margaret also worked with the Fox Valley Humane Association to form the "Brandy Fund," named after her departed best friend and pet, and dedicated to helping dogs find homes with loving families. As a result of her countless hours of dedication to the less fortunate, the Appleton Downtown Rotary Club awarded her the coveted "Paul Harris Fellowship." In 2003, Margaret's support of nearly 15 local non-profits earned her the Paul and Elaine Groth Mentoring Award, founded by the Mielke Family.
Margaret's business accomplishments were numerous. She was a pioneer in an industry that was in its infancy. She started Tel / Sec in 1949, working 16 hour days in a one room office in the Zuehlke Building. She later moved her business to her family home, and expanded Tel / Sec to 4 locations, at one time employing over 40 people. She also owned one of the first radio paging licenses in the state and offered "wide area" paging services to businesses in the Fox Valley. In 1983, she was joined by her nephew, Rick Schuchart, who later became president. She was the first female president of Association of TeleServices International (ATSI), and has since been inducted into its hall of fame. She attended ATSI meetings throughout the world, including trips to Europe and Australia. One of her highlights was a trip to China, back when the "iron curtain" was still a phenomenon. Margaret returned with many stories that still live on.
In 1992, Margaret retired and sold her answering service business to Alan Fromm, and sold her wireless business to her nephew, Rick. She later became restless and decided to open a cell-phone rental business. Joined by her nephew, Tom, she started Cellu/Vend, one of the first cell-phone vending-machine businesses in Wisconsin. Later, in 2000, she joined Rick and Tom in the start-up of another company, PCS Digital, LLC.
On the social side, Margaret loved parties. She was a fantastic story teller and had an Irish sense of humor that brightened every room she entered. Margaret was also an accomplished bridge player, and played almost daily with her sister Jean Ann and other close friends. She was a voracious reader and would often finish a novel in two days or less. She loved wintering in Naples, Florida with Jean Ann, and her loving companion, Pretty Kitty. Her brother Jack and his wife Betty frequently joined them. To say Margaret was a true Packer fan was putting it lightly. She never missed a game on television. On the day of her passing, she had her home decorated with green and gold, and was expecting guests for the Packers vs Cardinals game. She was a team owner, season ticket holder, and loved Aaron Rodgers. She also loved backyard barbecues with family and treasured her moments with her "grand kids," especially during the holidays.
She is survived by her brother: Jack (Betty) Walsh of Appleton; her sister: Jean Schuchart of Appleton; six nieces and nephews: Julie Waters of Appleton; John (Tammy) Walsh of Lakeville, Minnesota; Rick Schuchart of Menasha; John (Anna) Schuchart of Madison; Ann (Mike) Albert of Blue Mounds; and Tom (Kelly) Schuchart of Appleton; as well as her beloved great-nieces and great-nephews: Seth, Katy, Deanna, Jolie, Amanda, Stephen, David, Sam, Ryan, Stephanie, Anna, Katelin, Emma, and Laura. There are also friends and associates too numerous to mention. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother Thomas, a brother-in-law Richard Schuchart, and Julie's husband William Waters.
The funeral liturgy for Margaret will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 23, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 S. State Street in Appleton, with Fr. Jim Leary, OFM, Cap. officiating. Inurnment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the funeral mass. Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.
A luncheon celebration will follow the funeral mass. Additional information will be available at the church on Friday morning. Memorials may be directed to the Margaret M. Walsh fund at the Community Foundation of the Fox Valley Region.
The family would like to offer their sincere thanks to Margaret's many dear friends, including Bill and Carol Hackbarth, and her caregiver Carol Koerner.
Margaret will be sorely missed by her family and the Appleton community. The mark she left was indelible and everlasting. As one of her close friends commented recently, she LIVED until she died. God Bless you Margaret! "May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back, and may the good Lord hold you forever in the palm of His hand".

John Joseph Walsh, age 93, of Neenah passed away on Wednesday evening, July 6, 2016 at The Heritage CBRF, surrounded by his loving family, just in time to celebrate Betty's 92nd Birthday. He was born on April 30, 1923 in Appleton, son of the late Eugene J. and Anna M. (Finnegan) Walsh. He graduated from Appleton West High School in 1941 and continued his education at Lawrence University, then enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Because Jack couldn't pass the eye test to become a pilot, he was transferred to Brigham Young University for training, then when that program was cancelled, he ended up in the infantry and was sent overseas to serve as Platoon Sgt. with Patton's 3rd Army. He rode with the Navy Ducks in the Battle of the Bulge. He also served in the European Theatre of WWII with the 7th Army in France and Germany. He was awarded three battle stars, a bronze star, and a combat infantry badge for his service. Jack was honorably discharged in December of 1945 with the rank of Tech Sargeant.
On October 16, 1948 he married Beatrice "Betty" Neff at St. Margaret Mary Church in Neenah. Jack and Betty's marriage was blessed with one son, one daughter, and 67 wonderful years before Betty preceded Jack in death on April 10, 2016. An interesting note: Jack and Betty were the only married couple (both military) to fly to Washington D.C. in 2010 aboard the Old Glory Honor Flight to see their memorial.
Jack is a retiree of Bergstrom Paper, where he worked in the purchasing department. In retirement, he enjoyed boating and traveling.
Jack was a life member, of over 60 years, of the Neenah-Menasha Elks Club, Disabled American Veterans, Charter member of Valley Military Museum, Fields of Honor 70th Division, Assn., Neenah Historical Society, Neenah Club, and served as a Boys Brigade and Boy Scout Leader.

    Obituary:
After a long and happy life, Jean Ann Schuchart passed away on December 23, 2016 - just two days before the birth of our Savior. Jean was born on January 15, 1928 in Appleton, Wisconsin to Eugene and Anna (Finnegan) Walsh. Jean met the love of her life, Richard (Dick) Schuchart, while working for Outagamie County Extension and they were married on August 3, 1959. They moved to Dick's hometown, Marinette, WI, in 1967 when Dick accepted a new job as a Parole and Probation Agent for the State of Wisconsin.
While she and Dick were raising their three teenagers and a three year old child, Dick became ill and passed away. Jean was forever grateful for the loving support of the many relatives and friends surrounding the family. In 1979 while her older children were attending college, Jean and her young son Tom, moved back to her hometown Appleton where she remained living independently in her own home until three months before her passing. A very humble, kind, and rather quiet person, Jean was a beloved wife and mother who treasured her family, her Catholic faith and her Irish roots.
Jean waited patiently for grandchildren. They finally arrived one by one over a period of 19 years. She cherished all 8 of them. Her home served as our family hub for decades of birthday and holiday gatherings - all of which included a great deal of laughter and shenanigans.
Jean graduated in 1946 from Appleton High School and attended Lawrence University and the Milwaukee Business School. She was a secretary for the Institute of Paper Chemistry and the Outagamie County Extension. She also helped in the background as her sister Margaret launched the area's first telephone answering service, Tel Sec. When Jean's children were older, she worked part-time as a bookkeeper for Tel Sec and for her son Rick's company Tel/Com. Jean also volunteered for 12 years at LEAVEN and at St. Mary Church.
She was a member of the Laetare Book Club, several bridge clubs, and enjoyed monthly luncheons with the "'46 Chicks." She visited friends who were ill, played cards whenever she could, enjoyed the birds outside her kitchen window, and was an avid reader. Her children knew not to call her during Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Jean loved traveling and especially loved her trip to Ireland with son John. She treasured spending time in Door County and wintering in Naples, FL with son Rick for many years. She always loved visits to Marinette and to her son Tom's cottage in Crivitz in recent years. Playing Spite and Malice and a Rummy game were always a must-do during visits with her daughter Ann.
Jean is survived by her children: Rick Schuchart of Menasha; John (Anna) Schuchart of Madison; Ann (Mike) Albert of Blue Mounds; and Tom (Kelly) Schuchart of Appleton; her beloved grand-children: Ryan, Stephanie, Anna, David, Sam, Katelin, Emma and Laura; her sister- in- law: Dorothy Wunderlich; Dick's cousin, Bob Schuchart; as well many nieces, nephews, and close friends. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; her parents; an infant brother Thomas; her sister, Margaret Walsh; her brother Jack and his wife Betty Walsh; her brother-in- law, George Wunderlich; her nephew, David Wunderlich and her niece, Mary Beth Wunderlich; and Dick's cousin Bob's wife Mary Schuchart.
The funeral liturgy for Jean will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 S. State Street in Appleton, with Fr. Bill Swichtenberg officiating. Inurnment will take place beside her beloved husband, in Marinette, at a later date. Friends may call at the church on Saturday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the funeral mass.
Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com. A luncheon celebration will follow the funeral mass.
Mother had a special place in her heart for homeless people so in lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to any of the following: Homeless Connections, LEAVEN or COTS. Our heart-felt appreciation to all of the unsung heroes who helped guide Jean on her journey, including the medical staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital (especially Fremont Tower 3rd floor), Affinity Clinic and Cardiac Care staff, Southern Care Hospice, St Mary's Parish, and especially the caring and loving staff at Peabody Manor.
