Obituary:
Joseph N. Leitner, 89, of Chilton, ended life's journey on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, at Century Ridge in Chilton.
He was born Oct. 11, 1922, in the Town of Bro- thertown, the son of the late Frank and Josephine (Vogt) Leitner.
Before marriage, Joseph served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He traveled to 42 states and Europe during his time of service and said "the prettiest place was still right here."
He married Luella Weber on Oct. 4, 1952, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mt. Calvary. Following his marriage to Luella, they farmed together on the family homestead. They were blessed with six children.
Joseph was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Chilton.
Other organizations that Joseph belonged to were the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and Catholic Family.
Joseph retired from farming in 1987, eventually moving to Chilton in 1995.
He enjoyed cars and made sure to watch the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers. His Sundays often consisted of a trip to the park to watch the kids play baseball, and then tour the countryside inspecting everyone's crops.
Joseph was always content and thankful for the gifts of home and family; he made sure to take time to enjoy the present moment he had with those he loved.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Luella; six children: Michael (Sheryl) Leitner, Chilton, Brenda (Michael) Guelig, Johnsburg, Katie (Brian) Schmidt, Appleton, Nick Leitner, Chilton, Jodene (Joe) Geiser, Chilton, David (Debra) Leitner, Chilton; seven grandchildren: Aaron and Joseph Leitner, Rose, Matthew and Gregory Guelig, Jacob and Lauren Leitner; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Sr. Elaine Weber, June (Ralph) Birschbach, Rita Weber, Kate Weber, Verna Weber, Mary Kohlman, and Mike Michels. He is further survived by nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers and sister-in-laws: Alois (Ann) Leitner, Bruno (Minerva) Leitner, Severin (Ethel) Leitner, and Norbert Leitner; sisters: Theresa Leitner, Marcella (Rowland) Lavey, Veronica (Gilbert) Hemauer and Justina (Clem) Mueller; brother-in-laws: LeRoy Weber, Merle Weber, Joseph Kohlman; and sister-in-law: Dellene Michels.
SERVICES: Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 54 E. Main St., in Chilton, with the Rev. Bob Kollath officiating.
Burial will be in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Jericho.
VISITATION: Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home, 411 W. Main St., in Chilton, from 4:30 until 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 15; and again on Wednesday at the Good Shepherd Parish from 10 until 11 a.m. A Parish Vigil Service will be held Tuesday evening at the funeral home at 7 p.m.
