    Kettner Sr., Richard "Dick"
Richard (Dick) F. Kettner, Sr., passed away on November 3, 2016 surrounded by his loving family members.
Dick was born on November 14, 1936, at the family home in Shiocton to Joseph & Lydia (Lettman) Kettner, one of seven children. He will be forever remembered by his wife of 59 years, Annette (Kolbe) Kettner, Greenville; his children, Vicki (Steve) Becker, Pueblo, Colorado, Julie (Bill) Ebben, Appleton, Joseph (Lynda) Kettner, Freedom, Lynn (Becky) Kettner, Appleton, Richard Jr (Shelly) Kettner, Kaukauna; 9 grandchildren - Kim (Mark) Waring, Eric (Mallory) Kettner, Adam (Katie) Mix, Jenna Kettner, Amber (Colin) Madden, Megan (Andy) Kettner, Michael Kettner, Travis Kettner and Danyell (Brian) Kettner; 2 great grandsons Sam and Abel and baby Aycen due in 3 weeks; and siblings, Merlyn (Betty) Kettner, Niles (DeLila) Kettner, and in-laws, Emil Kolbe, Frank (Charlene) Kolbe, Margie (Gil) Kolbe-Mims; 28 nieces and nephews, and his special niece and husband Mary and David White.

Dad's passion and memories from his annual fishing trip to Canada provided hours of storytelling throughout the years. He developed great cooking skills as a result of his once-a-month KP duties helping his mother prepare family meals. All of his children readily admit we benefited from Dad's cooking skills. He was proud of his garden and asparagus patch, and enjoyed canning in the fall. Dad we are really going to miss our "Jack-of-all-trades" because all of us at one time relied on your plumbing, electrical, mechanical, masonry, remodeling, and car repair skills. Now it's time to share those skills and stories with the angels in heaven, and we're sure you will be entertaining them with your joking personality.
The family thanks all of the passionate hospice nurses who provided kindness and comfort during his last eight months. A special thanks to nurse Christina who will forever hold a special place in Dick's heart as well as the family. Your support and compassion was a great comfort to us.
The Christian funeral for Dick will be held on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 11:00 am at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London with Rev. William Heiges officiating. Burial will be at Floral Hill Cemetery, New London. A visitation for Dick will be held AT THE CHURCH on Sunday, November 6th from 1 to 4 pm and on Monday from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
    God's Garden
God looked around his garden And found an empty place, He then looked down upon the earth And saw your tired face. He put his arms around you And lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering He knew you were in pain. He knew that you would never get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb. So he closed your weary eyelids And whispered, 'Peace be thine'. It broke our hearts to lose you But you didn't go alone, For part of us went with you The day God called you home. - Anonymous

Mom, your youthful energy was an inspiration to us four girls who often times had trouble just keeping up with you. What wonderful meals you made for your family and friends. You loved playing cards with "the girls," and dancing with dad, especially the polka. For over 50 plus years, mom truly enjoyed the company of her neighbors who were like family, and got together for their weekly coffee clutch. Your many years working at Northwest Fabrics established lifelong friends. You loved life and lived it to the fullest. Thank you for taking us to church and loving God. You will always be in our hearts and thoughts and we will miss you so much.
With love, Dad and your girls.

She was united in marriage to Clarence Helser on June 18th, 1940 at St. Patrick's Church in Stephensville, WI; Clarence passed away in January of 1943, leaving behind a 22 year-old widow and 9 week daughter. La Verne raised her daughter alone until she married Dr. Theodore Knapstein on September 2, 1961. She had many wonderful years with him until he passed away in April of 1978. The couple enjoyed their home in Florida and traveling with their Airstream trailer and attending Airstream rallies. La Verne was well known for her cookies which she made for each holiday and happily shared with all the special people in her life. She enjoyed the opportunities she had to travel with her sister Florence to Arizona or even to visit with local relatives

She was much loved by her seven great-grandchildren: Parker Brennan (fiancée Corrina Hendricks), Macee Brennan, Morgan, Cole and Claire Huss, and Clay and Megan Huss. Obituary:
Dorothy Mae (Kettner) Hoffmann passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale Florida July 23rd, 2016, at 1:55 p.m. She was born the eldest child of Marie Josephine (Rassmussen) Kettner and Michael Edward Kettner of Shiocton Wisconsin. She tragically lost her mother when she was a child and did her best to care for her family at the farm in Shiocton until she was 18. She married Matthias Joseph Hoffmann, Jr. on July 2nd, 1949. Dorothy and Matt leave behind their children Michael (Susan), Marie, Jack (Louise), Wayne, (Janet), Joan Ross (James), Geralyn, Karen Staebell (Jonathan), Sally Gruber(Mark), and Laurie Sjostrom (William), along with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Our memories of Dorothy vary as much as the many people she left behind. We remember her for special qualities she possessed, the first of which was her generosity and efforts to help others, whether in a personal way or through her community. Dorothy envisioned designs for everything from wedding dresses and quilts to backpacks for children in developing countries. She is fondly remembered for her abilities in the kitchen, having catered weddings at church, and feeding anyone who came by the house. Dorothy and Matt built a family beyond those they brought into this world and who are named here, to whom her children send their deepest love. Dorothy was a strong woman, not by choice but by circumstance, and she found great comfort in her faith, in prayer as a member for 28 years at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Winter Haven Florida. A striking quality in Dorothy was her willingness to learn from her experience and to try to do what was right, inspiring fierce loyalty, respect, and love in those who knew her well. She was preceded in death by her husband Matt, her siblings Donald, Jerold, Thomas, Paul Kettner, and Nancy Lison, and three of Matt's sisters. She is survived by her sister Jean Molitor and her brothers Carl and Kenneth Kettner.
Services were held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Chapel in Winter Haven Florida on July 29th. A second service will be held at St. Denis Catholic Church in Shiocton, Wisconsin on Saturday, August 6th at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Dorothy's name at Good Shepard Hospice, Auburndale, FL
