June Marie (n?e Krause, Jansen) Fuhrmann
It was such a beautiful morning on June 11, 1927, that her mother looked out the window and decided her name had to be June. She passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, following a lengthy illness.
June was born to the late Theodore and Alvina (Balthazor) Krause in the Township of Grand Chute. She lived most of her life in Appleton. Her best friend and future sister-in-law, Mary Jansen, introduced June to her brother, John Jansen of Kimberly, and on Aug. 12, 1950, June married her handsome ex-Marine. They were married for 35 years until John's death. June and Johnny were the proud parents of a daughter and a son. On Feb. 14, 1990, June was married to Donald Fuhrmann. They enjoyed 21 years of marriage and almost as many years of fishing.
June had great energy and a passion for life. She was, at various times in her life, a rock hound, a doily-maker, an eclectic collector, a craftsperson and a picker - before there were pickers. June loved reading, movies, fishing, traveling and family gatherings. She was primarily a homemaker but also worked for awhile at the YMCA and at Presto Products. For many years, she was a member of St. Pius X Parish.
June is survived by her husband, Don; her daughter, Judith (Roy) Garvin; and her son, Robert (Mary-Frances) Jansen. She was "Gram" to her five grandchildren, Derek (Christie) Garvin, Brandon Garvin, Jason (Jessica) Garvin, Jessica (Justin) Klug and Travis Garvin, as well as to her nine great-grandchildren, Kyle, Jason, Harrison, Max, Sydney, Cameron, Brooklynn, Macy and Cooper. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Terry (James) Young; her half-sister, Alice (Albert) Smiley; and many nieces and nephews.
June was further preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, George and Anna Jansen; her stepmother, Mayme Krause; her brother, Dennis Krause; John's brothers and sisters; and her stepsister, Doris Snell.
A memorial service for June will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2211 N. Richmond St., Appleton. Friends may call on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will take place at Highland Memorial Park at a later date.
Memorial contributions in June's name may be made to Alzheimer's Association , Greater Wisconsin Chapter, 2900 Curry Lane, Suite A, Green Bay, 54311.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Gretchen from Home Helpers for her companionship to Mom, to Amy with St. Elizabeth Hospital, and the nurses and staff with Heartland Hospice and BrightStar, for their care, compassion and support.
