Obituary:
Elizabeth M. "Betty" Schnese, Darboy, age 67, died Saturday August 16, 2014 at the ThedaCare Hospice Residence. She was born in Appleton on June 2, 1947 to the late Peter and Elizabeth (Janssen) Verhagen. Betty married Kenneth Schnese, Jr. on October 23, 1970 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Little Chute. She was an agent at Dave Wittmann Insurance until her retirement in 2011.
Betty was a member of St. Paul Parish, where she helped organize Dutch Treat. She was also a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed time spent with Ken's Kute Krafters and loved going to the casinos, spending her kids' inheritance. Betty treasured her grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her husband of 44 years, Kenneth Schnese, Jr.; children: Tina (John) Van Rossum, Freedom; and Scott (Amy) Schnese, Kimberly; grandchildren: Emma and Kendra Schnese, Josie and Ryley Van Rossum; sister: Jane (Joe) Janssen; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Ken Vanden Heuvel, Susie Wankey, Sandy (Al) Paltzer, Curt (Bonnie) Schnese and Michelle (Kevin) Dolan. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law: Kenneth Sr. and Alvina Schnese; siblings: Anne Vanden Heuvel, Tom (Jan) Verhagen, Peter (infant) and Barbara (infant); and brother and sister-in-law: Gary Wankey and Doris Schnese.
Visitation will be held Thursday August 21, 2014 at ST. PAUL PARISH (410 Wallace St. Combined Locks) beginning at 1:00 p.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 4:00 p.m. The Rev. Betty's family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Lewandowski, Dr. Ahmad, Dr. Lenz and Dr. Swanson. Also to the nurses on the 3rd floor at Appleton Medical Center for their extra special care and to the ThedaCare Hospice Residence Staff for their excellent care.
You are free now to do the things you love the most. You will be greatly missed by all, especially by your four grandkids who will miss their special moments with you. We all love you.
