    Biography:
    Petronella Van Deursen was born in Uden, Netherlands in 1873. She died in Wilson,WI at the age of 57 in 1930. She attended school in Netherlands but didn't have much time for school because at that time all young girls in Netherlands had to get out and work. She worked for a farmer doing all sorts of farm chores as well as housework.
    She married John De Goey in 1897. She had four children. The oldest was John Jr. ,born in Uden, Netherlands on March 3, 1898. When he was a year old in 1899 they moved to Germany where they ran a farm for a widow lady. While in Germany she gave birth to three more children- Anna, Bill and Mary.
    She came to the United States with her husband and children in May 1905.

    De Goey, William J. "Bill" 404 Park St. Combined LocksAge 73, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, February 20, 2002 at the St. Paul Home, Kaukauna. He was born January 17, 1 29 in Combined Locks, Wisconsin; son of the late John and Amelia (Peter s) De Goey. Bill was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during the Kore an Conflict. On July 22, 1952 he married the former Lea Ann Lom at St. Pa ul Catholic Church, Combined Locks. Bill was very civically involved havi ng served on the Combined Locks Village Board from 1954 to 1959. Bill work ed for Combined Locks Paper Company until 1959 at which time he serv ed as director of Public Works in Combined Locks, retiring after 25 yea rs due to his health. He also served as Village Constable for six years, w as a director of Combined Locks Advancement Association, was a member of t he Combined Locks Horseshoe Club (where he served as treasurer) and had al so served on the Outagamie County Board from 1980 to 1984. Bill played dru ms for 35 years in the Mel Baeten Orchestra, having a special love for pol kas. He was a very active member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Combined Loc ks where he served on the cemetery board and various other committee s. He was a member of Jacob Coppus Post 258 of the American Legion, Litt le Chute and the VFW Post 10544, Combined Locks. Bill was an avid sportsma n. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lea Ann, Combined Locks; the ir children: Gary (Mary) De Goey, Debbie (Jim) Jonen, Barb (Jeff) Curti n, Joan (Jim) Nackers, Kathy (Len) Menting, Joe (Vicky) De Goey, Amy (Tod d) VanSchyndel, Bill (Staci) De Goey, 17 grandchildren: David and Ma tt De Goey, Jaime and Amanda Jonen, Nicole Curtin, Chad (Paula) Nackers, M ichelle, Cory and Katie Nackers, Maria, Jessica and Matt Menting, Krist ie and Brooke De Goey, Nathan and Jake VanSchyndel and Madeleine De Goe y. The funer al service will be 12 (NOON), Saturday at St. Paul Catholic Church, Combin ed Locks with Father Robert Vandenbeg officiating.     Obituary:
    Angela Van Der Steen, age 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born on June 4, 1933 to the late John and Amelia (Peters) DeGoey, and her late stepmother: Anna Sanderfoot. On August 27, 1953, she was united in marriage to the late Eugene "Stony" Van Der Steen to whom she was married to for 54 years. She enjoyed spending her free time in her garden, playing the piano, and camping at Berry Lake campground. She also worked for many years as Stony's secretary and personal cook. What was most important to her was her family and she loved spending as much time as she could with them, especially with her grandchildren.
    Angela will be greatly missed by her children: Sue Van Thiel, Ken (Wendy) Van Der Steen, and Amy (Dan) Doolittle; daughter-in-law: Tina (Rob) Romportl; grandchildren: Ryan (Becky), Alyssa (Mark), Brett (Samantha), Jennifer (Robert), Michelle (Darren), David (Sonia), Steven, Billy, Tyler, Danny (Angela), Kaylyn, Eric (special friend Kelly), Leah (Ben), Michelle (fiancé Jesse), and Kyle. She is further survived by numerous great-grandchildren; siblings: John Wirth, Sylvia Bird, and Joann Janssen; brothers-in-law: Leo Van Den Berg, Jerry (Carol) Van Der Steen, and Cliff (Diane) Van Der Steen; and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her husband; her two sons: Dan and Tom; her sisters: Betty, Marion, Eleanor, Carol; a brother, Bill; and several brother and sisters-in-law.
    The funeral liturgy for Angela will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Fargo Funeral Home, 400 West Wisconsin Ave., Kaukauna. There will be a time of visitation on Thursday from 4:00 pm until the time of service.
    The family would like to offer their sincere thanks to the entire staff at Brewster Village for the wonderful care they provided to mom these past ten years. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

    Robert William "Slug" DeGoey, 77, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011, after a long and hard-fought illness. He was born April 10, 1934, to William and Margaret (nee Wurl) DeGoey. Slug married Janice Wydeven on Sept. 1, 1957.
    Robert worked for U.S. Oil (Venture) for 38 years. He served in the Navy from 1952 to 1955. After retiring, Bob and Janice moved to Lake Tomahawk so he could enjoy his passions of musky fishing and quiet living.
    Slug is survived by his wife, Janice, Lake Tomahawk; sons, Robert Jr., Scot (Donna) and Jerry, all of Kaukauna; one daughter, Kathy (Pat) Kinsey, Woodstock, Ga.; five granddaughters and three great-grandchildren. Also survived by three brothers, John (Flossy), Combined Locks; Ken (Sandy), Silvercliff; Don (Geraldine), Kimberly; and sister, Lori (Don) Phillips, Combined Locks.
    Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, April 27, at 11 a.m. at Bolger Funeral Home-Woodruff Chapel with a gathering from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

    Don DeGoey, Kimberly, passed away unexpectedly at home on January 25, 2017, at the age of 72. He was born in Appleton on October 13, 1944 to the late William and Margaret (Wurl) DeGoey. Don married Geraldine Watry on May 2, 1964 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Little Chute. Together, they moved to Kimberly where he lived the rest of his life. Don worked at the Kimberly mill for 42 years, retiring in 2005.
    In addition to being a loving husband, father and grandfather, Don was a fun-loving friend to all who knew him. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer and cherished teaching these pastimes to his grandchildren. Don loved gathering with family and friends, especially hosting the De Goey family Christmas.
    He was also a huge Packer and Badger fan. Don spent as much time as possible up north in Lac Du Flambeau, WI, a town that always was his second home from an early age.
    Don is survived by his wife, Geraldine; children: Jeff (Boe) of Oshkosh; Dave (Michele) of Salem; and Deborah (Chris) Jansen of Hollandtown; grandchildren: Philip DeGoey, Luke and Erin Jansen, William, Caroline and Dylan DeGoey; siblings: Lori (Don) Philips, Jack and Kenneth (Sandy) DeGoey; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Janice DeGoey, Carol Vander Burgt, Richard (Deborah) Watry, Linda (Dave) Hietpas and Judy Watry. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
    In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his brother, Robert DeGoey; sister-in-law, Florence DeGoey; father and mother-in-law, Giles and Beatrice Watry; and brothers-in-law, William Wildenberg, Adrian Vander Burgt and Gary Watry.
    Visitation will be held Thursday, February 2, 2017 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Rev.     Gerald "Jerry" Vandenberg, age 67, of Combined Locks passed away peacefully on June 1, 2014 at Cherry Meadows with his family by his side.
    After graduating from Kimberly High School, he proudly went on to serve his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. from 1965-1967. On August 9, 1968 he married the love of his life Linda (Helms) Vandenberg. He worked as an electrician for numerous contractors over the years and belonged to the IBEW Local 577 of Appleton.
    Jerry was an avid Brewer and Packer fan. He also enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, horse shoes and just being up north.
    Survivors include his wife, Linda (Helms) Vandenberg; children: Troy (Jenny) Vandenberg and Geri Lynn Bauer (special friend Kevin Musolf); and his grandchildren: Logan, Madison, Brooklynn and Macey.
    Also surviving Jerry is his father, Leo (MerryJo Bersch) Vandenberg; brothers and sisters: Lyle (Karen) Vandenberg, Ronald (Debra) Vandenberg, Janice (Tim) Day, Roy (Pauline) Vandenberg, Carl (Wendi) Vandenberg, Carol Hass, Shirley (Al) Behling, Dennis (Amy) Vandenberg and Leo (Sharon) Vandenberg; brother-in-law, Tim Helms; sisters-in-law, Joanie Helms and Kathy Helms; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends; and special friend, Ron Poleshinski.
    Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Marion (DeGoey) Vandenberg; brother, Vernon Vandenberg; mother and father-in-law, Virgil and Rosemary Helms; brother-in-law, Carl (Woody) Helms; and niece, Amy (Vandenberg) Merckx.
    A time of visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014 at the JANSEN FARGO FUNERAL HOME, 204 E. Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly, followed by a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a fund has been established in Jerry's name.

    Vernon L. "Vern" Vandenberg, of Oshkosh, died Sunday September 24, 2006, at home after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was 54. Vern was born in Appleton on March 31, 1952, to Leo and Marion (De Goey) Vandenberg. On September 4, 2006 he married Kim De Pew. An avid outdoorsman, Vern enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He loved playing the Hum-Strum. Vern especially enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren.

    Amy Marie (Vandenberg) Merckx, 39, passed away on Jan. 1, 2009, surrounded by her family. We lost our hero. Amy was an example for all of us to follow. Despite many years of illness, Amy led a courageous and generous life, always thinking of others. No matter what life dealt her, she faced it with courage and defiance. Amy was an inspiration to all who met her and loved her.
    Amy was born Feb. 13, 1969, in Appleton, to Lyle and Karen (Menting) Vandenberg. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Kimberly High School, Class of 1987. On May 8, 1993, Amy was united in marriage to Paul G. Merckx at Holy Name Catholic Church, Kimberly. She always took great joy in cooking and baking meals for her family and friends. Amy often spent countless hours baking goods that both her children took to school. She also enjoyed summer camping trips with her family and parents at Boulder Lake.
    Amy talked often about her job and the people she worked with. To all the people from Kohl's Department Store, Darboy, she talked about you as if you were her family. The kindness that all of you have shown over the years really meant a lot to Amy and her family. Thank you will never be enough. Words cannot express our family's gratitude to all the workers for everything that has been given.
    In addition to her husband, Paul, and her parents, Lyle and Karen of Combined Locks, Amy is survived by her two wonderful children, Amanda and Mason; her brother, Lance (Jill) Vandenberg, Freedom, and their children, Bailee and Bryce; her paternal grandfather, Leo H. Vandenberg, Crivitz; mother-in-law, Evelyn Merckx, McFarland; seven brothers-in-law, Perry, Combined Locks; Greg, Kevin (fiancee, Barb Jahnke), Richard (fiancee, Donna Hopfensperger) and Jonathan, all of Kimberly; Jamie (Chris), Darboy; Brett (Corey), Oshkosh; 11 cousins, Keely, Taylor, Kifer, Matthew, Casey, Nichole (Tom) Veiau, Justin, Tyler, Kyle, Eryn, Megan, Ethan; and many other relatives and friends.
    Amy is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Ray and Dorothy (Williams) Menting; and her paternal grandmother, Marion (De Goey) Vandenberg; her father-in- law and mother-in-law, John Victor Merckx and Mae Rita Mezelin.
    A Memorial Service for Amy will be held Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at 7 p.m. at Jansen Fargo Funeral Home, 204 E. Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly. Deacon George Schraufnagel will be the officiant. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 p.m. until the time of service.
    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Amy's name.

    Nackers, Hannah OliviaDaughter of Paula and Chad Nackers of Darboy died at birth Monday, Decemb er 8th, 2003 at Appleton Medical Center. Survivors include her parents Pau la and Chad Nackers of Darboy and their son, Owen; her grandparents: Jim a nd Joan Nackers of Combined Locks, and Pam and Steve Boettcher of Darbo y; two aunts, Michelle Nackers and Katie Nackers; an uncle, Cory Nacker s; her great-grandparents: LeAnn DeGoey, Loretta Nackers, Mavis and Mel Wu rm and Gale Driessen; and her step great-grandparents, Gale and Donald Boe ttcher.Hannah’s prayer service will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 11t h, at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Field crest Drive, Kaukau na with Deacon George Schraufnagel officiating. Friends will be receiv ed on Thursday at the Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of servi ce. Burial will take place at St. Paul Cemetery. A memorial is being estab lished in Hannah’s name.The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna is assisting the family. 766-2 099.
