    Kay Dawn Boers, 63, of Appleton, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at her home, following a 10 month battle with ovarian cancer, surrounded by her family. Kay was born on June 13, 1951 to Kenneth and Rose (Braatz) Fehrman. She graduated from Freedom High School, and later on August 1, 1970 Kay was united in marriage to the love of her life, Russell Boers in Appleton.
    Kay was a 30 year employee of Hancock Fabrics. She was an avid knitter, sewer, and crafter making numerous presents for her family and friends. One of her greatest joys was watching her children and grandchildren in all of their various sports and school activities. Kay also enjoyed watching her son-in-law Chas drive the #26 stock car at the Seymour Speedway. Kay looked forward to Sheepshead night with the card club. She was a Packer and Badger fan, avid walker, and enjoyed ocean cruising, having had the pleasure of going on 10 of them. She enjoyed riding motorcycles, and was active with the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club for nearly 40 years. Kay was also very active with the Outagamie Conservation Club for over a decade. She enjoyed planning and working on their yearly Christmas party, and in 2012 she received the Women of the Year Award.
    Kay is survived by her husband Russell Boers, her mother Rose Fehrman-Zinck, by her daughters; Rhonda (Chas) VanOoyen, and Cresta (David) Buss, and by her grandchildren; Ericka and Kegan VanOoyen, and Carsen and Allysen Buss, and by her sister Karen (Richard) Gengler. She is further survived by her father-in-law Harold Boers, brothers-in-law Art Williams and Wayne Boers, and sisters-in-law Susan Fehrman, and Denise (Mike) Hoffman. Also by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Kay was preceded in death by her father Kenneth Fehrman, step-father Herb Zinck, sister Kathy Williams, brother William Fehrman, former sister-in-law LaVonne Fehrman, and by her mother-in-law Theresa Boers.
    Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday December 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church 2220 E. College Ave. Appleton, with Rev. Timothy Seabaugh officiating. Burial will take place at Bovina Cemetery in Shiocton. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from 9:00 AM until 11:00AM at the CHURCH.
    In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
    The family would like to express a special Thank you to Dr. Tammela and Martha, Tina and the rest of the staff at the Oncology Center at St. Vincent's in Green Bay for all of their care and support, and especially for the extra 3 months they gave them and Kay. They also would like to thank the staff at Theda Care at Home for all of their care, support and comfort.
    Kay, Thank you for tolerating my obsession with hunting for so many years. I love you!
