    Biography:
who devotes his activities to farming in Center township, where he owns a magnificent farm of 110 acres, is a native of Germany and a son of Ludwig Maylahn. Ludwig Maylahn came from Germany with his wife and seven children and located at Green Bay, Wisconsin, in 1872, two years later going to Menominee Falls, where he spent a like period. He then settled in Outagamie county, purchasing land in Black Creek township on which he resided until his death in 1895. Mrs. Maylahn died in 1909, aged ninety-six years. Of their nine children four are now living. Charles F. Maylahn was born January 17,1 854, and his education was secured in the schools of Germany. As a young man he worked for his father, with whom he came to the United States, and continued to assist in the duties of the home place until he had reached the age of thirty years, at which time he purchased his present splendid farm of 110 acres. He first erected a log cabin, later a log house, and now has a handsome brick residence, large barns and outbuildings and one of the best cultivated properties in Center township. The entire 110 acres are cleared and under cultivation, Mr. Maylahn carrying on general farming along scientific lines. In 1880 Mr. Maylahn was united in marriage with Paulina Sauberlich, daughter of Christian Sauberlich, of Greenville, and thirteen months later she died. In 1883 he was married (second) to Amelia Schultz, daughter of Carl Schultz, of Center township, and to this union there have been born ten children, of whom seven are now living: Alvina, who married Charles F. Selig and has three children, Rosetta, Clifford and Orville: Charles L., at home; and Julia, Cecelia, Amelia, ruth and Naomi, all living at home. Mr. and Mrs. Maylahn are consistent members of the Evangelical Church, of which he was secretary for twenty years. In political matters he is a Republican.

    Biography:
AUGUST KOLLETH, who is a substantial retired farmer of Outagamie county, Wisconsin, and a highly respected resident of Osborn township, living in section 17, where he owns 100 acres of land, was born in Germany, March 31, 1847, and is a son of Charles and Fredericka (Mielhan) Kolleth. The family came to the United States in 1873, locating first at Green Bay, Wisconsin, moving then to Germantown and subsequently to Black Creek township. There the father died in 1895, aged eighty-three years, the mother surviving until 1909, when aged ninety-six years. She was born in Pomerania, Germany, a daughter of Ludwick and Caroline (Kauferman) Meilhan. Her brothers and sisters were: Wilhelmina, Ludwick, Ferdinand, Frederick, Hannah, August and two others who died in Germany. The children of Charles and Frederica Kolleth were: Frank, who married Lena Ponkropt; Emil, who married Jennie Dixon; Anna, who married Bernard Spangberg; Edward, who married Emma Bootz; August, who married Cora Eick; Lena, who married Charles Pelier; Lizzie, who married Alfred Hurst; and Ott, who never married. For three years after coming to America, August Kolleth was employed as a farm hand near Menominee Falls, where he married, and then moved to Black Creek township and located on a tract of forty acres, where his first residence was nothing but a sheep stable. Better conditions were soon brought about, however, and he not only cleared this land but put up a comfortable house and lived on that place for seven years. He then secured 100 acres of wild land in section 17, his present place, one-half of which had been partly cleared. He cormpleted the clearing and in the course of years developed his present productive farm and also erected a commodious house with ten rooms, and a basement barn of 36x88 feet in dimensions. During his active years he worked hard but now rents the farm to his son, August Kolleth.

August married Eick, Cora Bef 1909. Cora (daughter of Eick, Carl or Charles and Krueger, Bartha) was born 7 Jun 1889, Osborn, Outagamie, Wisconsin, USA; died 3 Jan 1960, , Marinette County, Wisconsin, USA; was buried , Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Appleton, Wisconsin, USA. [Group Sheet]
