    Deacon William J. Burke
    "Bill", 78, Appleton, entered into his eternal home with the Lord on Monday, May 26, 2014. Bill was born to the late Henry J. and Helen (Lupton) Burke on June 26, 1935 in Appleton. Bill attended: St. Mary High School; St. Mary College, Winona, MN; Wright Jr. College, Chicago, IL; Whitewater State University, WI and Appleton Vocation School, Appleton. He was ordained a Deacon for the Green Bay Diocese on October 23, 1976 by Bishop Aloysius Wycislo at the Cathedral in Green Bay. Bill was a member of the second Deacon class of the Diocese and had been assigned to St. Mary Catholic Church, Appleton for the last 38 years. He was employed at Presto Products in shipping and inventory control for 28 years retiring in 1997. Bill had a strong faith and was very dedicated to St. Mary Parish. He enjoyed visiting with and distributing communion to fellow parishioners. He also led many funeral prayer services for fellow members.
    He is survived by his brother, Paul Burke, Appleton; two sisters-in-law: Kathy Burke and Wally Burke; a brother-in-law, Donald Lavering and nieces and nephews.
    Bill was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers: John 'Jack' (Joan) Burke, Dennis Burke and Gerald 'Jerry' Burke; a sister, Rosemary Lavering.
    A Mass of Resurrection for Bill will be held at 11 am, Friday, May 30, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Appleton, with Bishop Robert Banks officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Appleton. Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday from 5 - 8 pm with a prayer service beginning at 7:30 pm all at St. Mary Catholic Church (312 S. State St.) There will also be visitation Friday from 9 - 11 am directly at church prior to mass. Memorials may be directed to the church.

    Obituary:
    Gerald "Jerry" Francis Burke, age 69, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his wife, Waltraut, on November 29, 2010. He was born May 28, 1941, in Appleton to the late Henry and Helen (Lupton) Burke. Gerald was a loving and devoted husband and father who worked at Fox River Paper Mill for 35 years. He loved to travel, enjoyed music and camping and loved to be with his family.
    Jerry is survived by his wife, Waltraut "Wallie" Burke; sons: Paul Burke of Appleton, Steve (Gina) Burke of Appleton and John Burke of Appleton; grandsons: James (Cristy), Kevin, Craig and all of Appleton, granddaughter, Danielle Burke, great-grandchildren: Rayne, Maysa Fern, River; brothers: Deacon Bill Burke and Paul Burke, stepsons: LT. William J. (Christian) Ritcher III of Virginia, Sgt. John (Lin) Ritcher of Colorado Springs; brother-in-law, Don Lavering; sister-in-law, Cathy Burke, stepgranddaughter: Alison "Angel" Ritcher, ex-step-daughter-in-law, Lisa Ritcher, ex-wife, Judy Burke, and many nieces and nephews.
    Jerry is preceded in death by two brothers, a sister, a brother-in-law in Germany, a sister-in-law in Germany and mother- and father-in-law in Germany.
    The family would like to thank the Froedtert Hospital staff, Dr. Dall and the nurses at Appleton Medical Center. A special thank you to Cathy Burke; brother, Paul Burke, John (Lin) Ritcher, Will and Chris Ritcher and Steve and John Burke for helping with Jerry in a difficult time.
    A Funeral Service for Jerry will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 6, 2010, at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, with Deacon Bill Burke officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
    Jerry, you will be missed by many friends and family. Thank you for a wonderful 19 years together. Rest in peace sweetheart till we are together again. Love you, Wallie.
