Obituary:
The Lord welcomed Dawn to her eternal home on April 21, 2009. Dawn was born on May 21, 1939, in Seymour, the daughter of the late Harvey and Mary (Leavitt) Sachs. She grew up in Appleton and graduated from Appleton West in 1957. Dawn worked for Lutheran Aid until she married Merlin Drews on Sept. 12, 1959. She loved to sing, write poetry, read books and she loved to play sheepshead. Dawn enjoyed watching sports with her grandchildren and spending time with her family and her many dear friends. Her husband, Merlin, died in 1995 after 36 years of marriage.
She is survived by her children, Ronald (Nancy) Drews, Appleton; Joan (Romy) Thiel, Black Creek; and Julie (Dan) Kiecker, Appleton; seven grandchildren, Nathan (Erin) Buss and Nicole (friend, Jason Nicholson) Buss; Beth Drews; Matthew, Justin, Jessica and Aaron Kiecker; great-granddaughter, Madison Buss; sister, Gladys (Donald) Remter, Yuma, Ariz.; two brothers, Jim (Yvonne) Sachs, Chandler, Ariz.; and Everett (Barbara) Sachs, Menasha; sister-in-law, Gladys (Gordon) Bruhn; two brothers-in-law, Ivan Drews, Appleton; and Marvin (Audrey) Drews, Appleton; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dawn was preceded in death by her sister, Sandra (Kenley) Krueger; sister-in-law, Joan C. Drews; and brother-in-law, Lyle (Delores) Kubitz.
A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday (TODAY), April 26, 2009, at ST. JOHN EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, Hwy. 47, Town of Center. The Rev. Micah Martin and the Rev. Jeffrey Suhr will be officiating. Burial will take place at Community Lutheran Cemetery, Freedom. The visitation will be held at the church on Sunday (TODAY) from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.
Dawn's favorite Psalm was 118:24 - "This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it." Live each day with the Lord!
