    Deacon William J. Burke
    "Bill", 78, Appleton, entered into his eternal home with the Lord on Monday, May 26, 2014. Bill was born to the late Henry J. and Helen (Lupton) Burke on June 26, 1935 in Appleton. Bill attended: St. Mary High School; St. Mary College, Winona, MN; Wright Jr. College, Chicago, IL; Whitewater State University, WI and Appleton Vocation School, Appleton. He was ordained a Deacon for the Green Bay Diocese on October 23, 1976 by Bishop Aloysius Wycislo at the Cathedral in Green Bay. Bill was a member of the second Deacon class of the Diocese and had been assigned to St. Mary Catholic Church, Appleton for the last 38 years. He was employed at Presto Products in shipping and inventory control for 28 years retiring in 1997. Bill had a strong faith and was very dedicated to St. Mary Parish. He enjoyed visiting with and distributing communion to fellow parishioners. He also led many funeral prayer services for fellow members.
    He is survived by his brother, Paul Burke, Appleton; two sisters-in-law: Kathy Burke and Wally Burke; a brother-in-law, Donald Lavering and nieces and nephews.
    Bill was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers: John 'Jack' (Joan) Burke, Dennis Burke and Gerald 'Jerry' Burke; a sister, Rosemary Lavering.
    A Mass of Resurrection for Bill will be held at 11 am, Friday, May 30, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Appleton, with Bishop Robert Banks officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Appleton. Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday from 5 - 8 pm with a prayer service beginning at 7:30 pm all at St. Mary Catholic Church (312 S. State St.) There will also be visitation Friday from 9 - 11 am directly at church prior to mass. Memorials may be directed to the church.
