    Obituary:
    Bruce J. Kobs, Kaukauna, age 72 passed away Wednesday October 5, 2011 at Theda Clark Medical Center. He was born October 18, 1938 in Appleton, son of the late John and Ethel (Bruce) Kobs. Bruce married Carla Ploetz on November 9, 1974 in Kaukauna. He was employed at Thilmany International Papers as a machine tender, retiring in July, 2000 after 38 ? years of service. Bruce was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kaukauna where he served as an usher and was on the Building and Grounds Committee. In his younger years, Bruce was very active in the Kaukauna Athletic Club where he served as president. He was very proud to be a member of the Kaukauna Lions and had recently received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award in June, 2011. His pastimes included watching NASCAR as well as his beloved Badgers, Packers and Brewers on TV. Bruce also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
    Along with his wife Carla, Bruce will be greatly missed by his children: Jennifer (Ryan) Arnold, Mosinee; Jason (Jamie) Kobs, Chicago; Justin (Rachel) Kobs, Combined Locks; Shellie Barkman, Neenah; and Gregg Kobs, Kaukauna. He was the loving grandfather of Karlyn Barkman, Atticus, Asher and Dylan Kobs and Alyson Arnold; and a great grandfather to Kennedy Barkman. Bruce is further survived by his brother David (Elsie) Kobs; brothers-in-law Gene and Pahl (Ann) Ploetz; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
    In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law Carl and Alice Ploetz; sister-in-law Micki Ploetz; brother-in-law Jim (Joan) Rausch; and nephew Randy Rausch.
    Visitation will be held Monday October 10, 2011 at BETHANY LUTHERAN CHURCH (124 W. 10th St. Kaukauna) beginning at 2:00 p.m. until time of funeral at 6:00 p.m. The Rev. Levi Willms will officiate. Committal Highland Memorial. For on-line condolences, please visit www.oconnellfh.com.
