Obituary:
Geraldine M. Zipperer, age 74 of Brillion, passed away on May 16, 2012 at Chilton Care Center. She was born April 8, 1938 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Joseph and Lillian (Hynek) Krall. She married Berthold F. Zipperer on November 19, 1955 in Whitelaw. She graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. Geraldine and her husband owned and operated Zipperer's Cheese Factory in Brillion from 1966 to 1987, which was one of the last cheese factories in Wisconsin to accept milk in cans. They made the best fresh squeaky cheddar cheese curds. They also managed the School Hill Farmers Co-Op Cheese Factory from 1959-1966. In 1962, at the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association, they won the Blue Ribbon for the best Raw Milk Cheddar Cheese in Wisconsin. After Zipperer's Cheese Factory closed in 1987, Geraldine worked as a cook for Deer Run Golf Course and also worked in the deli at Kwik Trip. She also loved animals and had many cats and dogs that she cared for. Geraldine was very generous and selflessly gave to her children, grandchildren and great grandchild. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion. She is survived by a daughter Lynn Klessig of Brillion, and a son Bert (Laurie Frank) Zipperer of Madison, three grandchildren; Jennifer (Ryan) Mattek of Milwaukee, Melanie Klessig (fiancé Dan Woelfel) of Potter and Andrew Klessig of Milwaukee, one great grandson; Ethan, a brother-in-law Gordon Isco of St. Petersburg, FL. Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband Berthold in January 1984, her grandparents, a sister, and numerous aunts and uncles. Mass of Christian burial will be at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 24 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion. The Rev. Tom Long will officiate. Burial will be in the Holy Family Cemetery. Friends may call at the church in Brillion from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, with mass to follow at 5:00 p.m. The Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion is assisting the family with arrangements. A special thank you to Dr. Foley, Dr. Janu, and especially Dr. Tipler for their kindness and wonderful care they gave Mom. Thank you also to Chilton Care Center and their staff. And we will always be forever grateful to the Scott and Ann Kubichek family, especially Mike, for always being there for Mom. They were Mom's angels here on earth.
