    Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Citation: For capture of a flag at Sutherland Station, Virginia on April 2, 1865, during the Civil War. He was a member of the 148th Pennsylvania infantry, drafted at Ulysses, Pennsylvania. He moved to Wisconsin after the war and died at the age of 64. He was one of four 148th Pennsylvania Infantry soldiers to be awarded the Medal of Honor for bravery during the Civil War
