    Obituary:
    Emma Louise Bartmann, age 95, of Appleton, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Rennes Health Care Center. Emma was born on October 25, 1914, in Appleton, to the late Anton and Frieda (Mack) Gauerke. She enjoyed singing, playing the organ, attending concerts, fishing and especially the time spent with her family. Emma was a life-long member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church where she was baptized, confirmed and married. She married John Bartmann on July 3, 1937; he preceded her in death on September 23, 1983.
    Emma was a caring, wonderful Mom who will be remembered with great love by her three remaining children: Dorothy (Ray) Werner, Lakewood, Washington; Nancy (Jim) Zemlock, Appleton; Roger Bartmann, Desert Hot Springs, California; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, her sister, Gertrude Leopold; and two sisters-in-law: Molly Gauerke and Lou Bartman.
    She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, John; her daughter, Marilyn in 1977; her son, John Jr. in 1982; and her brothers and her sister.
    Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at ST. PAUL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 N. Morrison Street, Appleton, with Rev. Paul Jenkins officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
    The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the entire staff at Rennes Health Center and the special caregivers (you know who you are), the Affinity Hospice staff, and special neighbors, Nancy Allen, the Reinertson family and the Schaefer family.
    In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Emma's name to benefit St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Fox Valley Lutheran High School or Affinity Hospice.

    Appleton - Ruth Mathilda Frieda Rucks, age 92, died peacefully on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton.
    Ruth was born on October 24, 1925 in Appleton the daughter of the late Erwin and Alma (Lemke) Gauerke. She was a 1943 Appleton High School graduate. Ruth was united in marriage to Arlin Rucks on April 28, 1946 in Appleton. She was a faithful member of First English Lutheran Church of Appleton where she was a member of the church choir and was a Bible study leader. She loved music and learned to play the piano at the age of 8. She also was involved with a couple of different bands in the area (Hot Shots Fun Lovers) and played the accordion with the bands. They played at area nursing homes, the Thompson Center and Senior citizen clubs of the Fox Cities. She also sang with the Hallelujah Gospel Choir.
    Ruth is survived by her son, Jeff (Daney) Rucks, Fremont; a granddaughter, Melissa Soncic, Fremont; three brothers, Edward (Jean) Gauerke, FL; Norbert (Ardis) Gauerke, Neenah; and Larry (Jerry) Gauerke, Appleton; and by a sister-in-law, Gloria Yelczyn, Milwaukee; and by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in December of 1995.
    The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2018 at First English Lutheran Church, 326 E North Street, Appleton with the Rev. Jeff Tengesdal officiating. Inurnment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Ruth's family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Friday from 9-10:45 a.m. A memorial fund is being established for the church.

    Phillip V. Gauerke age 61, passed away May 20, 2008 in Madison, WI. He was born on July 6, 1946 to Anton and Edna (Kronberg) Gauerke, Jr. in Appleton WI. He graduated from New London High School Class of 1964. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a Russian interpreter. He attended UW Madison and received a teaching degree. He received a Ford Foundation grant and went to Russia to study and tour the country for four months. He attended Madison Technical College and received a degree in Computer Science. Phil worked for Omni Resources, Inc, Madison as a Data Processing Consultant, working mainly at the State Departments of Transportation and Vital Statistics. He is survived by two brothers: Earl (JoAnn) Gauerke of Burlington, WI, Franklin (Pat) Gauerke of Lansing MI; four sisters: Mildred (Ray) Golden of Neenah, Melda (Norman) Bang of Owatonna, MN, Lois (Gerald, Sr.) Edinger of Appleton, Elizabeth Gauerke of Manawa; and other relatives and friends. Phil is preceded in death by his parents and a sister: Anita Enloe; three brother-in-laws: Kenneth Enloe, James Coenen and Norman Hameister; a sister-in-law Shirley Gauerke. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday May 28, 2008 at Valley Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Tabitha Gallatin. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until time of the services. Burial will be at Grace Lutheran Church Cemetery at Larsen WI. at a later date.
