    Obituary:
    Edward C. Gorchals died on Tuesday, February 2, 2016. The son of Charles & Elizabeth (Thermansen) Gorchals was born on October 1, 1928. Edward graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1946. He enlisted in the Army, trained in the field artillery at Ft.Bragg N.C., served in Germany where he played one season of football with the Army. Edward worked in the construction field as a concrete foreman for E&R Construction, 4-X Corporation, and retired from L.W.Meyer as inside sales & service manager. As a boat racer he achieved national champion & Hall of Fame status in his Class with the APBA, and participated in the 100 mile Winnebagoland marathon. Edward lived on "His Lake" Poygan most of his life, fishing, hunting, trapping, building fish shanties, carving sturgeon decoys, making caviar and smoking fish. He was a charter member of Lake Poygan Sportsman Club, Ducks Unlimited, Sturgeon for Tomorrow and Payne's Point Hook & Spear Club.
    He will be missed by his wife Nancy; his children Patrick (Nancy) , Weyauwega; Polly (Peter) Anderson, Winneconne; three grandsons, Daniel Gorchals, Alexander and Pierce Anderson, two granddaughters, Ellen and Anna Van Maastricht. He is also survived by a sister Mildred Regel, Florida; in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
    A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Lewin Funeral Home, Fremont. Pastor Stephen Pope will officiate. Military rites will follow the service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
    A memorial fund has been established.
    Ed's family would like to extend a very special Thank you to the staff at Cherry Meadows Hospice, as well as the ThedaCare at Home Hospice for all of the wonderful care that was provided to him during his illness.
