    Obituary:
Marilyn A. Schenck passed away peacefully at home with her son-in-law, Mark, holding her hand on the 4th of July, 2017, six days prior to her 91st birthday. She was born July 10, 1926 to the late Robert F. and Marie K. (Pimpl) Sigl in New London, WI. Her family later moved to Appleton, WI, where Marilyn would live out the rest of her life.
A 1944 graduate of Appleton High School, Marilyn played drums and was a proud member of the school's marching band. She went on to play for the Valley Orchestra and was a key part of the first concert performed by this group (co-conducted by E.C. Moore and Michel Gibson) on May 28, 1946.
Later, she very much enjoyed being a member of the Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra. Though receiving a music scholarship to a college in California, Marilyn's late brother, Robert L. Sigl, was serving in WWII at the time and her parents could not bear to have their only other child move so far away.
For that reason, she was unable to take advantage of this opportunity.
Following high school, Marilyn worked at Wisconsin Bell, Wisconsin Electric Power Company and Krambo grocery store. At Krambo, Marilyn met and later married (the late) Donald J. Kurey on August 19, 1950. Together they had four wonderful daughters. Marilyn and Don possessed tremendous pride in each of their girls, actively supporting their many endeavors. Summer vacations included great family house boating trips in Eagle River, plus loads of fun camping in South Dakota and on Loon Lake, near Shawano. Unfortunately, after only 17 years of marriage, time together was cut short when Don passed away in January, 1968.
Marilyn married W. Allan Schenck Ph.D., in 1976 and together they made life amazing for their blended families. The two traveled frequently, mostly spending time in Brazil, Columbia and the Dominican Republic, where Allan volunteered for IESC, helping paper companies create manufacturing efficiencies and major cost savings. On such trips, Marilyn always took time to study and learn the culture of each country. Being adventurous, Marilyn even took voodoo drum lessons in Haiti. Upon their return from these many trips, Allan and Marilyn would teach their children how to prepare South American meals. Especially memorable was the churrasco prepared in the back yard fire pit. The two also loved motor homing to spend winters in warmer climates, including Key West (Marilyn's true happy place). Most importantly, they took their motor home to the Green Bay Packer games, happily entertaining everyone who joined them. After Allan passed away in 2004, Marilyn remained a true Packer fan and carried on the game day tradition of dressing in Packer garb or Badger gear, heading to The Red Ox, and telling everyone there to "win the game".
We will always remember Marilyn as the "party girl", as she always enjoyed company and would drop anything to entertain. Her wit and love to socialize remained intact as she grew older. With each Wednesday invitation sent from Kimmy and Mo asking Marilyn if she would accompany them to "wing night" at Mikeee's Payne's Point, Marilyn would promptly reply, "I'll clear my calendar!" We realize how fortunate we were to have a mother who still loved to regularly go out with us, when it clearly would have been easier to stay home. We appreciate the staff and patrons of both The Red Ox and Payne's Point for being a friendly face to Marilyn, helping clear a path, reserve a table and provide assistance to us.
Fortunately Marilyn was able to meet her great grandson Calvin Patrick Biggar born on December 12th 2016 whom we believe truly extended her life, he was the joy in her final months.
Marilyn is survived by her beloved blended family, her daughters the Kurey Girls, Kristine (Michael) Nicosia, Seattle, WA; Kimmy (Mark "Mo") Biggar, Neenah, WI; Karla (Len) Tanel, Menominee Falls, WI; Kay (Jake) Poinier, Phoenix, AZ. The Schencks, sons Larry (Mary) Schenck, Jordan, MN; Robert (Lynn) Schenck, St. Louis, MO; daughter Elizabeth (Mark) Feit, Naples, FL. Grandchildren, Max (Amber) Biggar, Alexa Von Biggar; Lucas (Mattie) Tanel; Jake Tanel and Scott Douglas; Nicholas and Madelin Poinier; Andrew Schenck; Brad and Katelyn Feit. Honorary children The Blanks, Dale Blanks, MN; Debra(David) Shore of Greenfield, WI; Dawna Blanks San Jose, CA plus all of their children and grandchildren.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her first husband Donald J. Kurey, her brother Robert L. (Josie) Sigl, her son-in-law James Reed; her second husband W. Allan Schenck Ph.D. and honorary son Duncan Blanks.
And a thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Kimmy and Mo from your three sisters. The love, compassion and care that you and Mo gave to our mom through her declining years will never be forgotten by us. We cannot thank you enough for everything you did to make mom's life so excellent.
The family would like to extend sincere thanks to granddaughter Alexa Von Biggar, for her many years of compassionate caring for her grandmother. The bond you created will live on forever. Special appreciation to Kayla Minlschmidt, Brittany Werth and Cassie Guernsey for your loving assistance. Appreciation to other care givers throughout the years include Karen and Jerry, Ellen, Ginny and Allison.
A Memorial Service for Marilyn will be held at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond Street, Appleton, WI 54911 at 12:15 on July 20, with Deacon Maurice Reed officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in the form of a scholarship for a drummer at Appleton West High School, in Marilyn's name. Funeral festivities planned by the Kurey girls include casual attire and please feel free to wear Packer garb, "why not?" as Marilyn would famously say!
Marilyn's family extends an enormous thank you to our hospice family namely Kelly, Bonnie, Paula, Trina, Mary and various others for all of the loving care, support and skill they provided during Marilyn's final journey. Additional special thanks to her medical staff Allison Stallbohm APNP and Ashley Jared.
Mom, spending time with you was the pleasure of our lives. Love You, Bye

Marilyn married Kurey, Donald 19 Aug 1950. Donald (son of Kurey, Michael and Lettler, Katherine) was born 6 Jul 1923, Appleton, Outagamie, Wisconsin, USA; died 22 Jan 1968. [Group Sheet]
