    Obituary:
Sandra K. Eckes passed away on November 13, 2016. Sandy was born November 28, 1947 in Appleton. She was a graduate of Appleton West High School and the University of Wisconsin-Stout where she majored in early childhood education. Sandy was preceded in death by her husband: Gary Eckes; her father: Gordon Schuh; and her brother: Gord Schuh Jr. (Carol). She is survived by her mother: Helen Schuh; children: Suzie Eckes (Christopher Shaw) and Brad Eckes (Allison); a sister: Kathy Schuh; three adoring grandchildren: Ian Eckes-Shaw and Lauren and Jake Eckes; and many other nieces, nephews, in-laws, wonderful friends, and neighbors.
Sandy worked at the YMCA for over 25 years -- first as a preschool teacher and then as a director of childcare. She loved teaching and learning about new developments in early childhood education. After retiring, she spent lots of time gardening and with her grandkids in Columbus, Ohio and Bloomington, Indiana. She loved going to see the grandchildren in their plays, concerts, games, and taking them out for pizza. Sandy also enjoyed traveling around the world with her family. She traveled to Mexico for the past 30 years and also enjoyed many trips to Hawaii, the Caribbean, China, Africa, South Korea, Europe, and Canada. Her kind natured way and upbeat personality always made those who knew her feel at ease. She will be missed terribly by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held at Wichmann Funeral Home - Tri County Chapel at 1592 Oneida in Menasha on Saturday, November 19 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the cancer charity of your choice .
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for everyone at Cherry Meadows Hospice for their warmth and patience. Also, a special thank you to her friend and neighbor Charlie Wilz and to Carol Schuh, Laurie Di Renzo and Kathy Schuh for all of their support.
