Erv wedded Jane Weyenberg on August 31, 1946 with whom he was able to celebrate 59 years of wonderful marriage. He worked for Sylvester & Nielsen Office Supplies for 34 years, retiring in 1984.
Erv dedicated his life to the American Legion Club and was elected as State Commander and as a National Vice Commander. He was a Kiwanian and served on the parish council at St. John Nepomucene in Little Chute.
Erv was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his card-playing buddies on a weekly basis. He scored a hole in one at the young age of 90 and was thrilled to have once had a perfect cribbage hand. Erv never missed his Friday Fish Fry at Wrightstown Legion Club or his Sunday morning strawberry pancake at Landreman's Family Restaurant. Erv loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who all thoroughly appreciated hearing his amazing stories about his time in service and his travels around the world.
Erv is survived by his children: Dan of Wrightstown and Barbara (Mark) Mollen of Kaukauna; grandchildren: Andrea (Jade) Olson, Vicki (Kevin) Quinn, Bridget (Lee) Busse, Jason (Sheila) Mollen, Matthew (Trisha) Mollen, and Benjamin Mollen; great grandchildren: Walker, Cooper, Savannah, Gavin, Teagan, Austin, Autumn and Jackson; sister: Rosita Spierings; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Helen Van Dyke, Carol (Carl) Newhouse, Tom (Karla) Weyenberg, Lori (Don) De Groot, Rita Powell and Angela (Joe) Van Bakel. I’d like the memory of me
    to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow
of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo
    whispering softly down the ways,
    Of happy times and laughing
    times and bright and

I’d like the tears of those who

    Obituary:
Ethel Promer, age 91, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Kimberly Assisted Living. Ethel was born December 21, 1924 in Wrightstown, daughter of the late Edward and Rosella (Baeten) Gussert. She attended Holy Cross School and lived in Kaukauna her entire life. In her early years, Ethel enjoyed playing softball in Kaukauna. She was pitching at one of those games when she met her future husband, Bob. On May 8, 1941, she married the love of her life, Robert A. Promer, Sr. Ethel enjoyed bowling, travel, crafts, and volunteering at local social events. Many will remember that Ethel was a generous woman who, over the years, cared for many relatives and friends, paid many visits to friends in nursing homes, and sent countless greeting cards to those she loved. She found the good in everyone and every day was a special day to her. Ethel never took life for granted.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the V.F.W. Auxiliary, was a lifetime member of the Thousand Islands Environmental Center, and was a lifelong and faithful member of Holy Cross Parish.
Ethel and Bob owned Promer Drywall for over forty years - it was here that Ethel earned her nickname of "Chief". The couple then built Promer Village Apartments in Kaukauna, and managed them for over thirty years. Together they raised three sons and two daughters: Donald (Rachel) Promer of Appleton; Dick (Jean) Promer of Townsend, Bob Promer of Kaukauna, Mary (Dan) Biesterveld of Combined Locks, and Marlene (Gene Kostrzak) Tennessen of Readfield. Ethel was very proud of her grandchildren: Lisa (Glen) Kolarik, Chad (Kelly) Promer, Jim (Liz) Promer, Lynn (Mike) Ramel, Rick Promer, Jeff (Tricia) Promer, Cory Promer, Stacy (Steve) Hlinak, Shawn (Amy) Promer, Brian (Sheila) Van Asten, Ray (Vicki) Van Asten, Diane Huebner, Dana Nickson, Duane Biesterveld, Scott (Kim) Tennessen and Jodi (Brian) Carr; twenty four great-grandchildren: Gavin, Nathan, Jake, Luke, Gabe, Madelyn, Lincoln, Abigail, Taylor, Jennifer, Tyler, Hunter, Cody, Brock, Macy, Mia, Natalie, Katelyn, Elizabeth, Lexus, , Alexander, Luciana, Alex, Ty, Tia and Trey. She will be sadly missed by them all. Ethel is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, three infant granddaughters: Ann, Mary and Lora Lynn Promer, two sisters: Roseann (Jim) Gertz and Florence (Jim) Jansen, and Bob's brothers and sisters-in-law: Herman Promer, Norbert (Alice) Promer, Art (Millie) Promer, Vi Promer , Ray Promer, and Bob's parents, Herman and Mary (DeBruin) Promer.
Due to the construction at her home church, the Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH - ST. MARY SITE, 119 W. Seventh St. Kaukauna, with Father Jerry Pastors officiating. A time of visitation will be held at church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com. A memorial fund has been established in Ethel's name.
Ethel's family would like to thank all the staff at the Kimberly Assisted Living for their kind and compassionate care. They would also like to thank her Holy Cross family for their spiritual guidance and friendships.
    To our dear mom
We will never say goodbye, because you will always be present in our hearts. We will miss you, but we have God's promise that someday we will be together again.
Love, Don, Dick, Bob, Mary and Marlene.

Jeremiah Michael Baeten, 32, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at home after a four year battle with brain cancer. Jeremiah was a man of integrity, who believed in leaving the world a better place. Each day he strived to make a difference in the lives of others, even if it was just by sharing a smile. Jeremiah was born to Nancy Bero who instilled honesty, kindness, hard work, and the ability to do anything he set his mind to. He was later adopted by the most wonderful father David Baeten who was his best friend and role model. Jeremiah was a devoted husband who deeply loved Amy for the past 13 years.
He had a love for animals, especially their boxer. Jeremiah would spend hours patiently training and playing with Tucker. He was a driven young professional who enjoyed the challenges and customer satisfaction that work brought to his life. Jeremiah had a gift to encourage, inspire, and help others laugh, even at the toughest times. Family and friends will remember Jeremiah most for his sense of humor, compassion, positive attitude, intellect, spirituality, wisdom, passion to help others, and his adorable SMILE.
Jeremiah is survived by his wife, Amy (Dugenske) Baeten; parents, David and Nancy (Bero) Baeten; maternal grandmother, Patricia Bero; maternal aunts and uncles, Terry and Paul Christman, Barbara and Al Lankford, Diane and Bill Schauf, Ron and Sue Bero, Daniel Bero, MaryJo and Tim Schroeder, and Eric Bero; paternal aunts and uncles, Earl and Ginnie Baeten, Mary and Mike Mollon, Anna and Art Fisher, and Rosie Burns; and several close cousins.
Jeremiah was preceded in death by his beloved and inspirational maternal great-grandmother, Genevieve Scheffen; maternal great-grandfather, Irvin Scheffen; maternal grandfather, Cletus Bero; and paternal grandfather and grandmother, Franchise and Rose Baeten.
Memorial visitation will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 1954 County Road U, Green Bay from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. A celebration will immediately follow the funeral.
A memorial fund has been established in Jeremiah Baeten's name to help others, a legacy Jeremiah wanted to leave. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com
