Jay,I was unable to find a marraige record for Harriet (Hattie) Patterson to H arry Stewart or a Margaret (Margureite) Patterson to Charles Gibbons in ei ther the Multnomah County marriage books or in the Oregon Marriage Index. I did find a marriage of Hattie Luella Paterson to Earl Younger and Margar et Patterson to John Strange, Leroy Tuttle and Carl Remelin. There was a death notice on November 20, 1933 for Harriet Allison Stewar t, aged 3 years whose parents were Mr. and Mrs. Harry A. Stewart of Tiga rd with sisters Marylin and Edith. There was an obituary for Harriet C. Pa tterson on October 14, 1975 who was 94 at time of death. She was bo rn in Alexandria Village, Minnesota and came to Portland 1900. There w as also a funeral notice of the same date that named nieces and nephe ws - Mrs. Scott H. (Patricia) Waters, Mrs. Janet C. Bunton. W. G. Cowing a nd G. G. Campbell. There was a funeral notice for Charles Joseph Gibbo ns on October 7, 1952 that lists a number of relatives. There was a bri ef funeral notice for Chester K. Patterson on June 10, 1956 that said h is mother was Mrs. Bertha Patterson and that the remains were being forwar ded to Rockwell City, Iowa. I am not sure what else I can do unless you pinpoint some of this informat ion for follow up. Send me your mailing address and I will ship this stu ff to you to review and absorb. Preston Holt

Fun - fun - fun. Lots to learn, but it sure does exp lain the last 13 years of my life hahahahah. So -- I don't think I have any Patterson ties to yours, none of the oth er names you mentioned are in my tree.Speaking of tree- I have mine on a family treemaker software (can expo rt as GEDCOM.) I was planning to polish up my tree and complete all t he notes as to where I got the data for each person. Then I got "sick" a nd I couldn't work on it anymore. It is complete now, I just don't know h ow to upload to the rootweb (or anyother) site. Do you know where I cou ld look up a FAQ page on how to do it? Then you'd have access to my Patte rson's line, and you could be sure who's who.On the other hand- I might be able to ask Rose City Cemetery - Did I say t hat in an earlier email? --well I'm getting my treatment plan set up, a nd seem to be making progress already, so I will try my best to get over t here soon. Who knows they may have lots on her - but you'd probably be t he only one they'd tell. Keep in touch if I flounder on this!!! Subject: Re: Multnomah County - Patterson Rebecca,I am not sure where I got your email address, but I think it was Random Ac ts of Genealogy Kindness - Oregon at the Rootsweb.com site. The only info I have is that Mary "Minnie" or "Winnie" POWERS married a PA TTERSON, probably sometime after Oct 1, 1888 (she is listed as Minnie Powe rs as a witness to her sisters wedding) They probably married in Wisconsi n, but moved to Oregon. They supposedly had two children, Hattie and Chest er Patterson. I sent a request to Multnomah Co for a copy of a Death reco rd for a Chester Patterson, but this does NOT appear to be related. He di ed in 1956 and was born in Iowa and mothers name was Bertha Swailes.I would assume that the family came to Portland only because some other fa milies from the same area of Wisconsin that are somewhat related, PETER S, and MICKE went to Portland. Any help you can provide would be greatly a ppreciated. I hope you are recovering well from your surgery, my though ts are with you. Best, Jay Wilpolt

The Chester Kenneth Patterson who died in Portland Oregon on 6/08/1956, is NOT related, his death cert lists birth as 4/08/1909 in Iowa chi ld of J.C. Patterson and Bertha Swailes.
There is a Chester Patterson in the 1905 Kaukauna Census (page 47) a ge 38 born in NY occupation Stone cutter with wife Helen age 32 born in W is parents born Germany and son Howard age 13. But that would make this Ch ester born about 1867, too early to be a child of Minnie's.
The OTHER Chester Patterson age 65, died in Kaukauna in March 1931, obit m entions he was born in Syracuse NY (abt 1866) and came to Kaukauna at t he age of 2, his survivors were his widow, son Howard and a sister Emma Ne ss of Gladstone MIch.

wrote:Sheri, I'll take you up on that offer of a lo okup. I have a "Brick Wall" with my Mary (Powers) Patterson family. I have atta ched a report with all my notes for your reference. I have been unable to track down her children or their families. Her only grandchild that I know of, is an Arthur Stewart, who was born ab out 1920 in Portland, (most likely) Oregon. They are listed as living in Tacoma, Washington in the <1930 Census Description>ED Page <1930 Census Date>1930<1930 Census Place> <1930 Census Notes>, and M ary (Powers) Patterson died in Washington in 1937. But, there is an Arthur Stewart who died in Yamhill County in 1970, a nd if you could check out his death certificate and let me know if he mig ht be related. (I figure I might have to go through the process of elimina tion in order to find him) Thanks so much, Jay

    Obituary:
Eugene resident Arthur C. Stewart passed away among family June 3rd, 2015 at the age of 95.
Mr. Stewart was born in 1920 in Portland, Oregon to Harry E. Stewart and Harriet Patterson Stewart. His parents later divorced and he was raised by his mother.
Adventurous by nature from a young age, Art never tired of telling about living in East Portland, taking the street car all the way to Washington Park, playing until nightfall and then taking the street car all the way home on NE 59th street. This wild streak would be reflected many times throughout Art's life, whether it be in his military service during World War II, his love of both hunting and fishing, riding his motorcycle, snowbirding or his love of flying.
Art was a union-man, spending his entire career as a knife-sharpener at Rosboro Lumber Company.
He was a bachelor well in to his thirties when he met his match in Marian Verrell, married and had twin daughters.
The Stewarts lived in Eugene throughout their 61 years of marriage. They belonged to the Eagles and were founding members of Asbury Methodist Church.
Art is survived by his wife Marian; their twin daughters, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Arthur married Verrell, Marion [Group Sheet]
