Harold H. SchowalterHarold H. Schowalter, 89, of the town of Richfield passed away on Saturda y, Jan. 8, 2005.He was born in the town of Jackson on July 7, 1915 to the late Alwin and F rieda (nee Dotter) Schowalter, and graduated from West Bend High Scho ol in 1934.He was united in marriage to Beatrice O'Connor on Oct. 17, 1942 in Milwauk ee. She preceded him in death on Oct. 14, 1990.Shortly after their marriage, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Co rps and served during World War II until his honorable discharge in 1948.After serving his country Harold worked for Cutler Hammer in Milwauke e, in the quality control department.He was a 43-year member of the S/Sgt. Henry F. Gumm American Legion Post 4 86 where he would enjoy golf outings, bowling, and playing sheepshead wi th the guys.
He was also an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting.Harold enjoyed tinkering with electrical and mechanical devices and w as a skilled woodcarver with a creative imagination.He was a man with a lively sense of humor who enjoyed bringing a smi le to those around him.Through his passion for planting trees and his love of nature, he will lea ve this world a more beautiful place.Survivors include five children, Wayne Schowalter of the town of Jackso n, Kathryn Schowalter of Random Lake, Connie (Ben) Hamilton of Boise, Idah o, Mike (Bonnie) Schowalter of Hartford and Jeff (Tammy) Schowalter of Pas adena, Md.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and three brother s, Delbert Schowalter, Alwin Jr. (Virginia) Schowalter, and Rev. Quintin ( Ann) Schowalter.He was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbert (Ruth) Schowal-ter and a si ster-in-law, Trudy Schowalter.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 12, at 6 p.m. at the Myrh um-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service of West Bend.Visitation will be on Wednes-day from 3 p.m. until the time of services.Cremation will follow and entombment will take place in Washington Coun ty Memorial Park.
