    Hartjes, Julius P. " Tosh" ;Julius P. "Tosh" Hartjes, 82, Wrightstown, passed away Friday, March 10, 2 006, at a local nursing home. He was born Aug. 29, 1923, son of the late C ornelius and Harriett (Jansen) Hartjes. He married Florence Theresa (Leick ), May 1, 1947, and they lived most of their married life in Wrightstow n. Florence preceded him in death on Jan. 25, 1999. He served his count ry in the United States Army from Feb. 2, 1943, to Dec. 2, 1945, with Comp any B, 359th Engineering Regiment during the campaigns of Normandy, Northe rn France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was a construction foreman, b uilding roads and bridges supporting the Allied Forces in Europe. He was w ounded near Antwerp, Belgium in 1944 and was hospitalized there for the du ration of his military service. For his years of service, he received a Pu rple Heart, Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European African Midd le Eastern Theater Ribbon with four Bronze Battle Stars, four overseas Ser vice Bars, and the Good Conduct Medal. Tosh was a lifetime member of the W rightstown American Legion, VFW Post 3319, and Chapter 18 of the Disabl ed American Veterans. He was employed by Thilmany Pulp and Paper Company f rom Jan. 1946 to Sept. 1984. He started with the company as a Rewinder Hel per and worked his way up to the Poly Department Superintendent and Wax Su perintendent. He was also a member of the Thilmany Quarter Century Club si nce 1971. Tosh enjoyed deer hunting and fishing with his brothers. He w as an avid golf enthusiast. He was a Charter Member of Mid-Vallee Golf Cou rse where he carded three of his four lifetime holes-in-one. The fourth ho le-in-one was scored at the old Fox Valley Golf Club. Dad was also an av id Packer fan. Dad will be remembered by his family and friends as a kin d, gentle and patient man whom always thought of others before himself. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebra ted 11 a.m. Tuesday at church, with Fr. John Schuh and Msgr. Roy Klister c oncelebrating. Following Mass, there will be full military rites at churc h. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
