    Obituary:
    Rodney K. Gilbertson, New London, 59, passed away on Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, at V.A. Medical Center in Milwaukee. Rodney was born on Jan. 9, 1948, in Marenisco, Mich., son of the late Garvin and Kay (Pavlovich) Gilbertson. He was baptized and confirmed at Messiah Lutheran Church in Marenisco, Mich. On Dec. 27, 1969, he was united in marriage to Mary Mears in Marenisco, Mich. He had formerly worked in the White Pine Copper Mine in White Pine, Mich. Rodney served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968. He was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries he received during the Tet Offensive near DaNang, Vietnam. He enjoyed going to Vietnam Veterans Reunions in Kokomo, Ind. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grand kids (who were his best buddies and best girl), hunting and doing wood carvings.
    Rodney is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary; a son, Wayne (Paula) Gilbertson, Sheboygan; a daughter, Molly (Mick) Hintz, Beaver Dam; two brothers, Bud (Carol) Gilbertson, California and Brian (MiHwa) Gilbertson, Texas; six sisters, Dee (Wayne) Blaschke, Marenisco, Mich.; Pat (Ron) Maki, Ironwood, Mich.; Donna (Tim) Heaton, New Berlin, Wis.; Betsy (Mark) Whitley, Wakefield, Mich.; Bambi (Tim) Mattson, Norway, Mich.; Barbi (Craig) Farrel, Ironwood, Mich. Four grandchildren, Nicholas, Erik, Sydney, and Aden. Also surviving him are numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    He is preceded in death by two infant brothers and a sister.
    Funeral Services for Rodney will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London with the Rev. Brian Hennig officiating. Burial will be in the Floral Hill Cemetery in New London. Full Military Graveside Rites will be held. Friends may call directly at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
