    Obituary:
    Earl E. Wood, age 87, of Chilton, died on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at the Villa Loretto in Mt. Calvary. He was born Aug. 25, 1920, in Mattoon, Wis., son of the late Albert and Anna (Johnson) Wood. He married Caroline "Peggy" Jacobs on March 2, 1946, in Fond du Lac. Earl served in the Philippines during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946 and became a member of the American Legion in Stockbridge. He worked as a cheeseman at Kolpack, Pauly and Pauly Cheese Factory and for 29 years at Lake-to-Lake in Kiel. He was an active member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church and served as an elder of the congregation and was a leader in the maintenance and care of the church. Earl loved serving his community by doing meals on wheels three times per week and dedicated many hours to the Shepherd's Attic. Doing these things and others he received a community service award from Calumet County. Earl was a polka fan, an expert stump fiddle player, and an avid supporter of the "Jerry Schneider Band." He had a zest for life and brought joy to everyone he touched.
    Survivors include his wife Caroline "Peggy" Wood of Chilton; sons, Neil (Christine) Wood of Fond du Lac and David Wood and fiancee Lori Wozniak of New Holstein; grandchildren, Michelle (Jim) Krebs of Fond du Lac, Steven (Darlene) Wood of Madison, Barbara (Lance) Hall of Kaukauna, Lisa (Joe) Van Handel of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a great-grandchild Nolan Hall; children of Lori, Eric & Sara; sisters, Marian Schroeder of Pulaski and Edna Palubicki of Pulaski; a brother-in-law, Stephen (Lorna) Jacobs of Chilton; sister-in-law, Delores Jacobs of Appleton; numerous nieces and nephews; and cousin Arlyle Turnblom of Fond du Lac.
    He was preceded in death by his parents Anna and Albert Wood; brother and sister-in-law Calvin and Ruth Wood; brother and sister Donald and Dorothy Wood (stillborn twins); brothers-in-law: Florian Schroeder, Richard Palubicki, Lester Jacobs, and Gary Oman; sisters-in-law, Stella Oman and Kathy Jacobs; nephews, Rodney Miller and Stanley Miller; and niece, Diana Jacobs and Ervin Turnblom.
    Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Chilton with the Rev. Wayne Huebner officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at Wieting Family Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, and on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Service will follow.
    The family would like to give a special thanks to everyone for all their special prayers during his short illness, to the compassionate staff at the Villa Loretto and Dr. Jones for all his kindness. A memorial fund has been established in Earl's name. Wieting Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
