    Obituary:
    Norman O. Schroeder, age 89, of Grand Chute, passed away Monday morning, December 10, 2007. He was born June 5, 1918, to the late Edward and Anna (Kositzke) Schroeder, in Outagamie County and grew up on the family farm in Grand Chute, where he lived most of his life. Norman served with the U.S. Army during WWII and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He had been employed by Badger State Hatchery for over 40 years, retiring in 1980. Norman loved hunting when he was younger, taking his children ice fishing and playing the bass fiddle. He is a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church and a former member of the Harvey Pierre VFW Post #2778.
    He is survived by his wife, Lila T. (Truax) Schroeder, whom he married July 9, 1951; three children, Raymond G. (Kathleen) Salter, Crivitz; Madelyn (Dennis) Olson, Appleton; Julann (Kenneth) Boelter, Menasha; nine grandchildren, Melissa (Matt) Duvall, John (Cindy) Kolstad, Amy (Mark) Schiltz, Robin (Neal) Vandervest, Chad (Dana) Olson, Ryan (Michelle) Olson, Erik Olson, Kris (Lori) Olson, Ashley Boelter; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Syvilla Sager, Appleton; a sister-in-law, Lucille Schroeder, Appleton; numerous nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by a brother, Chuck Schroeder. Funeral services for Norman will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 13, 2007, at ST. PAUL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 North Morrison Street, with Reverend Ralph C. Waack officiating. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.

    Syvilla "Skip" Frances (Schroeder) Sager
    Syvilla "Skip" Sager passed away peacefully and gracefully from this world on September 16, 2013, at Appleton Medical Center. Born in Appleton, May 29, 1920 to Anna and Edmund Schroeder, she graduated as salutatorian of her class at Appleton High School in 1939. During World War II she worked as a fuselage inspector for the Douglas Aircraft Company in Long Beach, helping to build B-29s and B-17s. She enjoyed her time in California and often spoke of how she enjoyed the sound of the ocean, how she enjoyed the roller coaster on the Santa Monica pier, and how she turned down a drink from John Wayne.
    After the war, she returned to Appleton and married her true love, Robert Sager, in February, 1946. They remained married until Bob's untimely death in July, 1963. Skip worked for many years as the head cashier at Food Queen on Oneida Street, and then in accounts payable for the Paper Valley Hotel before retirement. Skip loved reading, knitting, and sports, especially the Atlanta Braves, Chicago Bears, Wisconsin Badgers, and the Duke University basketball team. She was a good softball player, played tennis and golf, and enjoyed bowling well into her 80's.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers Norman and Chester "Chuck" Schroeder, and one great grandchild.
    Skip is survived by her daughters, Sharon Marion and Sandra (Jim) Glinski of Conway, Arkansas; Susan (Ian) Baker of Madison, Wisconsin and #1 son, James Sager of New London. Also grandchildren; Edward and Patrick Tolley; Brian, Robert, Christopher and Jeffrey Kalz; James Glinski Jr., Katherine "Cadie" Baker, Robert, Michael, Chelsea, Matthew, and Luke Sager and ten great grandchildren as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
    A memorial service for Syvilla will be held at 7:00PM, Friday, September 20, 2013 at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N Richmond St, Appleton. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 6:00PM until the time of service at the funeral home.
    "Mama, you are and will be truly missed, but lay your head down now. It's time to rest."
