    Obituary:
    Winton D. 'Windy' Glaser, 89, Appleton, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2008, at Appleton Health Care Center. He was born October 2, 1918, to Carl and Martha (Wagner) Glaser in Appleton. He worked as a machinist for the Valley Iron Works and Alice Chalmers Company. Winton proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga. He later retired from Metso Minerals. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #349 of Appleton and the Beja Shriners Temple Lodge of Green Bay. He will be remembered for being a chartered member of the Appleton Motorcycle Club, member of the Appleton Rifle and Pistol Club, Oshkosh Gun Club and lifelong member of NRA. Windy was a member of the E.A.A.; enjoyed piloting his Cesna and held his pilot's license until he was 84. He was also an avid sportsmen who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
    Survivors include his sister-in-law, Ethel Glaser, Hemet, CA; nieces: June (Rob) DeVos, Hemet, CA and Julie Huelsbeck and her daughter Claire, Stephensville; two nephews: Dan (Ruth) Glaser, Fremont; Paul (Penny) Glaser, Baton Rouge, LA; special friend, Lois Hameister, Appleton.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Dwain and Charles.
    Funeral Services for Windy will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2008, at the Valley Funeral Home followed by Military Honors performed by the VFW Post #2778 of Appleton. A Masonic service will begin at 5:45 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Friends may visit the family from 4 - 6 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. A memorial fund is being established.
    The family wishes to thank the staff on Unit 4 at Franciscan Care Center for their care and concern over the last 3 1/2 years. A special thank you to his friend Conrad Schadler for his friendship and countless visits.
