    Obituary:
Kenneth Lee Vassar Sr. (63) of Appleton, died in the arms of his wife on Thursday morning, October 23, 2008. He was born on June 23, 1945, to Arlie and Dorothy Vassar of Florence, WI. As a young man he was in the U.S. Navy. Following that, he was active in Business Protective Police Services in Madison. It was there that he met his wife Susan. They Married on May 20, 1967. Together, they had three children: Kenny Jr. (Appleton), Katie Schnell (New Holstein), and Julie Gleisner (New London).
He worked at Carns Corp as 4-state Lab Supervisor. After moving to Kiel, Ken was also involved in the men's softball league, the Toastmasters Club, the Cub Scouts program and the Kiel Optimist Club which he help initiate to Kiel. He worked at Seiferts and HG Weber Co. in Kiel, where he was Production Manager for the plant and engineering department. Ken was elected as an associate member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He served as a Machine Advisor at LTC. He was an avid outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed fishing, camping, sports, cooking and woodworking.
Besides his wife "Sooz," nothing made him happier than being a dad to his children. He was a true family man in every respect. Ken will be remembered most for his sense of humor and easygoing nature. He was the kind of person who would socialize with anyone and everyone. His kind blue eyes will be sorely missed. His face lit up each weekend when his daughter Katie, his son-in-law MJ and their four sons, Jack, Charlie, Teddy and Henry came to help and share stories of their week with "Grampa."
He is survived by his wife, three children, and six grandsons. Also five brothers and a sister in Northern Wisconsin.
Special thanks to Margo and Holly from Calumet County Homecare for their dedicated love and support for many years. Also special thanks to the MS society.
Private service and visitation was held at Sippel Funeral Home in New Holstein.
"Blessed is the man who preserves under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him." James 1:12
