    Gordon W. Peters, 72, Clintonville, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2008, at the Maple Lane Health Care Center, Township of Belle Plaine, Shawano County. Gordon was born on June 22, 1936, in the Township of Bear Creek, Waupaca County, the son of the late Eldor and Ella (Westphal) Peters. He attended Clintonville High School, graduating in 1955. Gordon served for 18 years in the U.S. Army National Guard where he had been involved in the Berlin Crisis. On July 13, 1958, he married Barbara Johnson at the St. John's Lutheran Church, Marion. The couple had lived in the Township of Larrabee, Waupaca County all of their married life. Gordon had been employed at the Kasper Cheese Factory, Township of Bear Creek, Dupont Cheese Factory, Township of Dupont, Mantin Brothers, Clintonville until he became self-employed. He worked as custodian for the Dairyman's State Bank, Clintonville for 16 years, and the Clintonville Community Medical Center for many years. His hobbies included helping his family with farm work and making fire wood, polka dancing and traveling with his wife, Barbara, spending time at the cottage at Shawano Lake and working on his rental properties. He was a life long member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Township of Bear Creek where he was baptized on July 5, 1936, and confirmed on April 2, 1950.
    Survivors include his wife, Barbara; his daughter, Linda (Brett) Shufelt, Clintonville; three sons, Rick (Kathy) Peters, Tigerton; Randy and Ken Peters, Clintonville; two granddaughters, Kristin and Kimberly Peters; his father-in-law, Leo Johnson, Tigerton.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leroy.
    Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Township of Bear Creek with the Rev. Steven Pockat officiating. Interment will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville. Friends may call from 5:30 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home, Clintonville and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church until the time of the service.
