Freiberg, Darlene (Dar) J - Darlene J. Freiberg (nee Wohlt) 69, of Appleton, passed away into the arms of the Lord on Monday, December 1, 2008, following a tragic battle with cancer. Darlene was born on October 27, 1939, in New London, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Eldor and Florence (Rusch) Wohlt. In 1963, Darlene married Phil Freiberg at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fremont, thus beginning her 45 years of marriage to her best friend and soulmate. Darlene was passionate about teaching and devoted her life to children. Darlene was a long time employee of the Appleton Public Schools and found immense joy and pride in teaching at Highlands Elementary School for over a quarter of a century. She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Appleton and their choir. Darlene enjoyed shopping, gardening, spending time with family and friends, and relaxing through the long, cold Wisconsin winters on the warm beaches of the Gulf of Mexico.
Darlene is survived by her devoted husband, Phil; two loving daughters: Cathi (Dave) Stram, Brookfield, WI; Lori (Jerry) Seubert, Waukesha, WI; four cherished grandchildren: Michael and Kate Stram and Aaron and Lauren Seubert, and too many dear friends and relatives to list. Nothing was more important to Dar than family and faith. She will be remembered by all who knew her as a devoted wife, loving and caring mother, proud grandmother, and a great friend who lived her life so happily in a truly selfless fashion always putting the needs of others first.
Memorial Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 3009 N. Meade St., Appleton. Pastor Bruce Pangborn will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Susan G. Komen for a Cure Foundation.
Mom — We were blessed with the perfect Mother. We will never forget your devoted heart and selfless ways.
