Staedt, Gertrude "Gertie"
Gertrude "Gertie" Staedt, 91, Greenville, passed away Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born May 16, 1917, in Seymour, daughter of the late Richard and Kathryn (Harbrecht) Bunkelman. She married John S. Staedt on Dec. 17, 1937, at Zion Lutheran Church, sharing 60 years together before his death on Oct. 30, 1998. Gertie was employed as a housekeeper at private homes for 40 years until she retired in 1981. She was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church.
She is survived by a sister, Louise Becker, Green Bay; two sisters-in-law, Marian Spiegelberg, Appleton; and Florence Dunsirn, Appleton; special friends, Catriona and Jane Mac Kinnon, Neenah; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Carlton (Arelitta) Bunkelman and Vernon Bunkelman.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at Zion Lutheran Church, 912 N. Oneida St., with the Rev. Ron Nielsen officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at both Greenville Manor and Affinity Hospice for the wonderful care Gertie received.
