    Stack, Alice Clara (Sis)
    Sis Stack passed away at The Gardens of Fountain Way Assisted Living on July 4, 2009. She was 86 years old.
    A lifelong resident of Appleton, Sis was born December 14, 1922, at her childhood home on Pacific Street. She was the youngest child of the late Arthur and Alice (Larpenteur,) Zuehlke. She attended St. Mary Elementary School as well as Appleton High School, (now Appleton-West). After graduating from high school, she attended Rosary College, (now Dominican University,) at River Forest, Ill., and then Mrs. Brown's Secretarial School in Milwaukee. She returned to Appleton and worked at the Appleton State Bank until meeting and marrying Richard (Dick) Stack. Dick preceded her in death on September 9, 2001.
    They married in 1948. Her life centered around family, extended family and friends. She enjoyed traveling with her husband. Sis was involved in many endeavors including volunteer work for St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels, and King's Daughters. She also enjoyed gardening, needle pointing, playing bridge, and golfing.
    She spent happy childhood and adult years at the family cottage on Lake Winnebago. She would often comment how much she loved those days.
    She was a wonderful mother, and continued to supply supportive direction throughout her life. She acted with honesty and integrity. Her kindness, politeness and sense of humor were constantly noted by her caregivers who assisted her during the last years of her life.
    She is survived by her children: Richard Stack and wife Barbara, Appleton; Marilyn Stack and husband Allen Rosenthal, Anchorage, Alaska; Margaret Stack, Milwaukee; James Stack, Appleton; and her four granddaughters: Kathleen, Sara, Laura Stack and Mara Rosenthal. Sis will be missed by her brother Gus Zuehlke and wife Helen Jeanne, Bailey's Harbor and many nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard, Sr. "Dick," her son John, her sisters Marguerite Miller and Mary Garvey, her brother Arthur Zuehlke, her nieces Anne (Garvey) Maggiorana and Mary Clair (Miller) Slais, her nephew, Daniel "Dinny" Stack.
    A visitation and funeral mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 S. State Street, Appleton, Saturday, July 11. The visitation will start at 9 a.m.; the funeral mass begins at 11 a.m. Internment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery, Appleton on Monday, July 13 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Richard and Alice Stack Fund, Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, Inc. P.O. Box 563, Appleton, WI, 54912, or the Heckrodt Wetland Preserve, PO Box 554, Menasha, WI 54952.
    The family would like to thank all the individuals who participated in Mother's care. Their companionship and care was a great source of strength for her.
