Obituary:
Clarence Metz, age 93, Kaukauna, died Sunday, March 21, 2004. Clarence w as born Feb. 27, 1911 to the late John and Anna (Steffen) Metz in Denmar k, Wis. He married the former Virginia Stradel on April 6, 1940 in Coopers town. Clarence worked for Thilmany Papers for 29 years until his retireme nt in 1973. He enjoyed playing cards, the Packers (if they were winning ), and helping family with house projects. Clarence was a longtime memb er of St. Mary's Church, volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul for over 20 ye ars and was a member of the Thilmany Quarter Century Club. He loved his gr andchildren and great-grandson and cherished the time he spent with them. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Metz, Kaukauna; a daughter, Carol (Ro land) Zehren of Menasha and their two children, Ryan Zehren and Darci (Ti m) Koziol and their son, Nicholas; two sons, Roger (Sue) Metz of Delavan a nd their two children, Kelly (Tom) Schwigel and Greg (Heather) Metz; and S teven (Susan) Metz of Kaukauna and their son Michael Metz. He will al so be missed by two brothers, Gilbert (June) Metz, Manitowoc; and Vernon ( Pat) Metz, Poulsbo, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Marilyn; a grandso n, Todd Zehren; a sister, Louise (Ivan) Peltier; and two brothers, Leona rd Metz and Raymond (Inez) Metz. The Funeral Liturgy will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 24 at ST. MARY 'S of the ANNUNCIATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 119 West Seventh Street, Kaukau na with Fr. Robert A. Udulutsch OFM Cap. officiating. Friends will be rece ived at Church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interme nt will follow services at the Parish Cemetery. A memorial fund has been e stablished in his name.
