Steven L. Rodgers, age 54, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, after a long battle with MS. Steve was born on May 16, 1956, in New London, son of Carlton "Cully" and Patricia (Eckart) Rodgers. On August 16, 1975, he was united in marriage to Dorine Locy in New London. Steve worked at Hillshire Farms (Sara Lee) for 17 years, until he was forced to retire in 1992 due to his MS. He was a member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London.
Steve is survived by his wife, Dorine; daughters: Toni Rodgers, Appleton and Tanya (Paul) Hintzke, New London; honorary daughter, Alishia (Nathan) Krueger; a grandson, "Grandpa's Buddy", Antonio Lee Jr. (Toni's); honorary grandchildren, Hailie and Preston Krueger and a godchild, Beau Handschke; his mother, Patricia; sisters, Kathy (Jerry) Fermanich, New London; Ann (fiance Harley), Hibberd, Appleton; brothers: Mark (Muggs) Rodgers and Tom (Shirley) Rodgers, both of Weyauwega; Tim Rodgers and Todd Rodgers, both of New London. Sister-in-laws, Jackie (Jack) Benotch, Appleton; Vicki Handschke, Kathie (John) Mares, both of New London; Sandy (Rick) Whitman, Appleton, Lori (Brian) Campbell, Neenah, Lisa (Dave) Linberg, New London; brother-in-laws, Steve (Jane) Locy, Eagle River, Mark (Kim) Locy, John (Kelly) Locy, and Paul (Robin) Locy all of New London. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Carlton "Cully", a brother, Mike Rodgers, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Yvonne (John) Locy, a nephew, Trent Magolski and his grandparents.
Funeral Mass for Steve will be held on Friday, July 2, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London, with Fr. David Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2010, from 4-8 p.m. at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home and also at the church on Friday after 10 a.m. until the time of service.
