Obituary:
Frederick L. "Fred" Kubichka, Sr. age 56, of Chilton, died on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at his home. He was born May 12, 1957, son of the late Charles & Rosemary (Laurent) Kubichka.
Fred proudly volunteered 35 years with the Chilton Volunteer Fire Department, and worked at Ameriquip in Kiel for nearly 20 years.
Fred was known for his can collecting, recently started collecting little wooden trucks and picked up woodworking as a new hobby. He also got back into an old interest of his, collecting electric train sets. Years ago, Fred had a large table with several sets that brought him joy. In the summer, Fred looked forward to attending the band concerts on Thursday nights, and taking his grandkids fishing.
Always frugal, Fred looked for the best ways to save money which included raising vegetables and going to rummage sales with Melanie. With whatever free time he had, Fred could be found tinkering with whatever he could get his hands on.
Survivors include his girlfriend: Melanie Schaefer; children: Fred Jr. (Sadie) Kubichka, Eric Kubichka, Greg (Amy) Kubichka, Mike Kubichka; 5 Grandchildren: Skyler, Serenity, Trinity, Austin, Owen Kubichka; and his brothers and sisters: Carol Jean (Richard) DeGroot, Donna Ecker, Dan Kubichka, John (Chris) Kubichka, Margie (Jerry) Nett. He is further survived by nieces, nephews other relatives & friends.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents: Charles & Rosemary; and his step father Cyril Daun.
Funeral service will be at 7:00 pm on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 6:30 pm.
