    Obituary:
Marvin "Marv" Alvin Roberts, Sr. age 80 of Oshkosh peacefully fell asleep in Jesus with his family at his side on Saturday, October 22, 2011. He was born April 15, 1931 in Greenville, WI. He was the eldest son of the late James and Pearl (Buman) Roberts. On October 2, 1952 Marv married his sweetheart, Dolores Zuge at St. Peter's Church in Weyauwega, WI. Marv and Dolores enjoyed 59 wonderful years of marriage and were blessed with 5 children.
Marv proudly served his country as a corporal in the 3rd Armored Division, Artillery, in the United States Army. He served 8 years with 2 years of active service stationed in Korea. He earned a Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars and a United Nation's Service Medal.
After the service Marv spent his years servicing customers as a delivery driver for the 7-Up Company, provided a door-to-door milk service for Guernsey Dairy Company, and finally as a bulk milk hauler serving Wisconsin farmers. In his retirement years, he was busy making piano benches and servicing the community with rides for the elderly.
Marv and his family visited many out of state vacation spots. Family time spent during the summer included camping and leisure time at the family cottage on Lake Wilson. Marv loved the outdoors and especially Northern Wisconsin. Marv's hobby in his younger years was playing bass guitar. He played Country Western music with the "In-Laws" and "Country Crossroads" bands. His classic country style of music brought enjoyment to many.
Marv spent the summer months attending car shows. He often won 1st place with his 1964 Oldsmobile Jetstar 88. He purchased the car new and kept it in mint condition and loved to share the age and style of the car with other car show enthusiasts.
His seasonal passion was reflected in the passing of his deer hunting traditions, first to his sons and later to his grandsons. Time spent on his hunting land in Bowler, WI was filled with appreciating nature in all its beauty as well as many hunting memories. This same passion was also evident in his overwhelming love for cheering on the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers.
Marv was also known to be a great conversationalist. He could spend hours talking about many different topics. We have all been blessed by his 80 years of life and we know that he is reunited with his son Michael in their eternal home.
Marv was preceded in death by his parents, son Michael of Wild Rose, and 2 brothers; James "Jimmy" and an infant brother. He is survived by his wife Dolores of Oshkosh, 3 daughters; Kay (Jeff) Miller of Oshkosh, Sherry (John) Seabul of Oshkosh, Brenda (Andrew) Vechart of Menomonee Falls, and son; Marv (Kyla) Roberts, Jr. of Appleton. Marv is also survived by 12 grandchildren; Joshua (Nancy), Jennifer, Jeremy (Janelle), Jonathan, Kyle, Christopher, Kendall, Adam, Hayley, Megan, Mikayla, and Hannah. Additionally, Marv was blessed with 3 great grandchildren; Alexander, Riley, and Koen. He is further survived by a brother; Gary (Patti) Roberts of Waupaca, and 3 sisters; Shirley (Leon) Horne of Waupaca, Audrey Briggs of North Miami, FL., and Elaine (Eugene) Vaughan of Seymour, TN.
Marv was a member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 28, 2011 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church (338 N. Eagle St.) Oshkosh at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. David Pagel officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to the time of service. Interment will follow at Omro Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Army and the United Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Marv's name and will go to furthering cancer research and patient care.
We would like to thank all of the caring people at the Lombardi Cancer Center, Hospice Care, and the entire Aurora Visiting Nurses staff. A special thank you to Linda, Suzette, and Theresa.
