    Obituary:
June "Jiji" Thorson, age 69 of Wisconsin Rapids died Wednesday January 11, 2012 at Strawberry Lane Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Wisconsin Rapids.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 PM Friday January 20, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. John Grohs will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM. Ritchay Funeral Home is assisting the family. Memorials may be designated to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Wisconsin chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
June was born June 15, 1942 in Withee, WI to Alvin and Agnes (Madsen) Thorson. She graduated from Goodrich High school in Fond du Lac and from St. Olaf's College in Northfield, MN. June was a teacher for the Wisconsin Rapids Public School District at West Junior High and Lincoln High School for 30 years.
During June's lifetime, she had many interests. She especially enjoyed traveling; with her trip to Norway being a highlight, leaving her with many happy memories. Door County was special to her too, as she and a friend spent many hours riding bicycles on trails there.
She left family and friends many beautiful examples of her cross-stitch, needlepoint and knitting. Her hands were always busy, before her illness made that impossible. Reading was also one of her favorite past times, with hundreds of books left behind as evidence-most of which were donated to AAUW or the Wisconsin Rapids Public Library.
June was a member of the Sons of Norway, Retired Teacher Association, AAUW, and of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
June is survived by: One sister, Joyce (Norman) Powers of Greenville; Four Nieces and Nephews; Jeanne (Mike) Lautenschlager and their children: Katie, Emily, and Joey; Ron (Sheila) Powers and their children: Tyler, Samantha, and Tommy; Kathy (Bill) Diedrich and their children: Jacob, Abigail, and Luke; Mike (Kimberly) Powers and their daughter, Claire.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A special thank you to Terri Hesso for the loving care for eight years, and also the staff at Strawberry Lane Medical Center for her care in the past year. Thank you to all of June's friends who continually kept going to visit her throughout her illness.
    Your good-byes were left unsaid.
your spirit flew before we knew,
    your time here was done.
    We miss you now,
as time goes by we'll miss you more.
Your love for life was full.
Your love for all of us was true.
    We will always remember you.
    Dear Jiji,
Do now what you couldn't do for so long.
Be sure to say hi to Grandma and grandpa for us.
Thank you for watching over all of us.
You will always be in our hearts.
Love you, Joyce, Norm, and kids
