Obituary:
Stanley K. Ziemer, age 100, died on Thursday, August 22, 2013. Stan was born in the Town of Maple Creek on November 6, 1912, son of the late Fred and Ida (Bleck) Ziemer. He attended North Central College and UW Madison before graduating from the agriculture short course in 1935. On June 17, 1944, he was united in marriage to Priscilla Zwicky in Antigo. Stanley enjoyed life, his family, and farming (working was his hobby). He also enjoyed playing horse shoes, tennis, bowling, and picking apples in the fall. Stan served on the First State Bank Board of Directors for many years and was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church, New London, serving on many different committees.
He is survived by his children: Jane Martinson; Kathleen Ziemer; Paul Ziemer; Jennifer Ziemer. Grandchildren: Jim (Cathy) Sharpe; Julie Baumgart; Jeremy (Julia) Martinson; Joe Ziemer; Tom (Jenna) Ziemer; a sister, Doris Estes. He is further survived by four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Priscilla in 1984, and sisters, Alice Shiffler and Opal Ziemer.
Funeral services for Stan will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church, New London with Rev. Kate Croskery-Jones officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
Burial will be in the New Maple Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the New London United Methodist Church.
