    Zabel, Herbert D.
    Herbert D. "Herb" Zabel, Appleton, age 78, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 27, 2007. He was born in Beaver Dam, WI, on June 25, 1928, the son of Herbert Carl and Alice (Frank) Zabel. In September 1945, he married his wife of 61 years, Anna Ebert. Herb grew up in Whitewater, WI, and owned several local businesses including: Pleez-U Laundry, Campus Cleaners and Zabel's Shoes.
    Herb is survived by his wife, Anna; children: William (Christine) Zabel of Dallas, TX; Judy (E. James Rausch) of Angel Fire, NM; Susan (Arthur) Holden of Ocala, FL; Robert (Susan) Zabel of Appleton, WI.; Lana (Gregory) Carman of Milwaukee, WI.; Barbara (Douglas) Stern of Dousman, WI.; James (Mary) Zabel of Tarpon Springs, FL.; and Meg Zabel and husband, Robert Wall of Appleton, WI; sisters: Jane (Bob) Lenz of Madison, WI.; and Bonnie Schroeder of Whitewater, WI.; and 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
    He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, Loren Lawton.
    A private memorial service will be held.
