    Wilbur "Willie" V. Smith, 86, of Fond du Lac, died Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Woodlands Senior Park.
    He was born on October 21, 1926, in Appleton, a son of Frank N. and Ana Warnecke Smith.
    He retired in 1986, after a dedicated career with the Soo Line Railroad. Willie also drove cars for Bergstrom Motors for many years.
    He previously resided in Franklin Park, Ill. and Neenah, Wis.
    He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Evelyn (Bestor); two daughters, Linda (Richard) Christensen, Arlington Heights, Ill.; and Patricia Gilkey (significant other, Turner Reaney), Turtle Lake, Wis.; a granddaughter, Karen M. (Jon) Vasconcellos; a grandson, Steven D. (Lindsey) Bass; four great-grandchildren, Julia and Krista Vasconcellos and Abby and Callie Bass; and a brother, Robert (Arda) Smith, Kaukauna.
    He was preceded in death by a brother, Lyle Smith, and his son, Thomas H. Smith.
    A funeral service for Wilbur and a memorial service for his son, Thomas, was held on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory in Fond du Lac. Burial followed in Rienzi Cemetery.
