Obituary:
Esther C. McHugh, age 85, of Chilton, died on Sunday, February 15, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. She was born March 15, 1923, in Chilton, daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Utschig) Salm. Esther married Harold J. "Pete" McHugh on December 30, 1942, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He preceded her in death on December 18, 1990. Esther was a member of Good Shepherd Church, formerly St. Augustine Parish, and the Christian Women. She enjoyed playing sheepshead and belonged to several card clubs in the area. She also was fond of the time she spent at her exercise class she took at Fox Valley Tech in Chilton.
Survivors include her children: Mary Jane McHugh, Brookfield; Donald (Lou Ann) McHugh, Stoughton; three grandchildren: Jason (Marissa) McHugh, McFarland; Jeffrey McHugh, Stoughton; Kelly McHugh, Stoughton; a great-grandchild, Nola McHugh; and two sisters: Armella (John) Mangin, Ocean Springs, Mississippi; Marie (Del) Hammond, Bellevue, Ohio. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2009, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with the Rev. Bob Kollath officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10 until 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2009, when the service will be held. A memorial fund has been established in the name of Esther C. McHugh.
