    I found ten children for George and Ernestine Suhr. and that George Jr. and Oliva Suhr were twins. I think their is another George Suhr that Ernestine gave birth, too. STATE LEGION HEAD CONDUCTS FINAL RITES

    with Marshall Graff, Appleton, state commander of the American Legion officiating, funeral services were held at Brillion on Sunday for George Suhr, 89, one of the few remaining Civil War veterans, who passed away on Thursday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Schwaubs, Brillion. The funeral was in charge of the Bloedern post of the Legion and members of the post acted as pallbearers. Services were held from the Schwaubs home and interment took place in the Brillion cemetery.
    The deceased was born in Germany in 1841 and at the age of 17 came to this country. he worked his passage over on the boat and located near Brillion. March 28, 1864 he enlisted as a private with Capt. Jos. Hall's Company E, Fourth Wisconsin regiment of cavalry. He served in the Texas campaign and was discharged from the service at Brownsville, Texas in 1866. He was united in marriage to Ernestine Hintz in 1871 and they settled on a farm near Brillion, where they since resided. Mrs. Suhr preceded her husband in death forty years ago. For many years Mr. Suhr has been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Schaubs in Brillion. six children survive-two sons, William and George of Wisconsin Rapids, and four daughters, Mrs. Emma Goldberg, Wisconsin Rapids, Mrs. Alma Perschke, Unity, Mrs. Henry Schaubs and Mrs. Wm. Abel of Brillion survive.

    Nischik, Eunice L.
    Eunice L. Nischik of 106 Grand Ave., Brillion, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2007, at Calumet Medical Center. She was 102 years old. Eunice was born on Feb. 6, 1905, in the Town of Brillion, daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Suhr) Schaubs. In 1923, she graduated from Brillion High School. Eunice married George Nischik in 1927. She taught sewing, tailoring, and other domestic science classes at the Fond du Lac Vocational School for twenty-four years. She also taught at the Oshkosh and Brillion vocational schools. Upon retiring in 1972, Eunice returned to Brillion.
    She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Brillion, the Women's Guild, Brillion Historical Society, The Vision Seekers Support Group, and Senior Citizens. Eunice enjoyed card games, gardening, and she traveled extensively in both the United States and abroad. Her wit, her lively sense of humor and her passion for living life to the fullest made Eunice Nischik a delight to her family and friends. She will be deeply missed.
    Survivors include a nephew, Dexter Schaubs, Oshkosh; four grand-nephews, and four grand-nieces.
    She was preceded in death by her husband George in 1971, a daughter Alice in 1969, a brother Oscar in 1968, a nephew Clifford in 2001, a niece Bernice in 2002, and niece June Sturt in 2005.
    Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 11, at Peace United Church of Christ in Brillion. The Rev. Dr. Cathey Rennick will officiate. Burial will be in the Brillion City Cemetery. Friends may call at Peace United Church of Christ in Brillion from 9 a.m. on Monday, until the time of Service. The Wieting Funeral Home of Brillion is assisting the family with arrangements.
