DEPARTED THIS LIFE In this city, on the evening of April 30, 1878, after a long illness, Mr. NICHOLAS PAULY, aged 51 years, 7 months and 10 days.Mr. Pauly was one of the earliest settlers of the Lower Fox River Valley. According to our recollection, he came to Green Bay from Gemany in 1843, and lived for a year or two with Maj. R. Shaler at Fort Howard. About 1846, he settled in what isn now Buchanan, and for some years lived there or at Little Chute. About 1854 he came to appleton, where he has ever since resided except for a few years when he was engaged in business at Manitowoc. For many years prior to 1874, when the great panic crippled him financially to an extent from which he never recovered, he was an active, enterprising and sucessful businessman -- one of those real "drivers" for which this section of the State became famous in its earlier days. He was repeatedly a member of the County Board, and until recently an active poliician. Long a sufferer, having been in bad health nearly two hears, he has gone hence leaving a large family in very straitened sircumstances; and the old friends of the departed should not forget the family in their hour of need.

She was bo rn in Appleton, August 24th, 1864, the daughter of Nicholas Pauly, Pione er Appleton businessman. She was Miss Mary Pauly before her marriage he re August 17th, 1888. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church and had liv ed in Appleton for the past 14 years. Survivors are the husband, five son s, Nicholas, of Milwaukee, Jake, of Stanley Wisconsin, Alouis, of Appleto n, Leo, of Flambeau, and Norman, in the U.S. Marine Guard, stationed at S an Pedro, California; five daughters, Mrs. Harry Holland, Mrs. Neil Unro a nd Mrs. Clifford Corlett, Los Angeles California, Mrs. Charles Kornowsk i, Kansas City Kansas, and Mrs. Nile Rareick, of Santa Monica Californi a; 14 grandchildren; two sisters, and one brother. The funeral will be he ld at 830 Wednesday morning, with services at 9:00 at St. Joseph's churc h. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery. Friends may call at the reside nce from Tuesday morning until the time of the funeral.

Peter C. Schaefer Formerly of Appleton Age 74, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Monday after a short illness. He was born Nov. 4, 1890 in Appleton where he lived most of his life. Mr. Schaefer is survived by three sisters, Mrs. R. M. Sensenbrenner and Mrs. Earl Mauthe, both of Menasha; Mrs. Joseph Quell, Appleton. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, the cortege forming at 9:30 a.m. at the Brettschneider - Trettin Funeral Home. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday where the rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.

Unknown newspaper unknown date; Jacob P. Michels, age 79, resident of 115 second Avenue, Stanley, passed away suddenly Tuesday evening April 11t h. He was born in June 2nd, 1892 at Woodville Wisconsin, son of Peter and Mary Michels. He came to the town of Delmar with his parents when he was a year old, grew there, and entered the U.S. Army in 1917, serving in World War I until 1919 with the 32nd Division. On October 5th, 1919 he was united in marriage to Albina Smasal at Edson Wisconsin. After their marriage he was a cheesemaker at the Arthur dairy at Cadott and then was a cheesemaker at the Clear Creek dairy. They move to Stanley in 1933 and he has lived there since,. He was a member of Holy Family Parish and Chippewa County Barracks 2905. He is survived by one son, A. (Bud) Miche ls of Green Bay, one of brother, Leo of Holcombe, four sisters, Hilda of P alo Alto Calif., Setta, Louise and Lenora, all of Los Angeles California, and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1969, one daughter, Geraldine, three brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held Friday 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family North Catholic Church, Stanley with Reverend Joseph Marx officiating. Burial will be St. Mary's cemetery.

Alois Michels, 1118 West Kam ps Ave., age 72, passed away at 11:15 p.m. Thursday, following a lengthy i llness. He was born March 26th, 1898 in Boyd Wisconsin. He was employ ed with the Appleton Machine Co. for 20 years until his retirement in 196 4. Agnes L. Sensenbrenner-Hermsen, 89, of De Pere, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Monday, August 6, 2007. She was born in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, on December 30, 1917, to the late Rudy and Barbara (Schaefer) Sensenbrenner. After moving from Ladysmith, most of her early years were spent in Menasha, where she graduated from Menasha High School. There she played French horn in the National Championship Marching Band. She attended Lawrence College in Appleton where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. After studying at Mosser Business College in Chicago, she was employed by Kimberly-Clark Corporation in Neenah.
Agnes married Jerry Hermsen in St. Patrick's Church in Menasha on July 7, 1941, and moved to De Pere in 1955, where she has resided ever since. She was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Congregation and a longtime member of the Altar Rosary Society. Agnes enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting and making craft items for her grandchildren. For many months she delivered Meals on Wheels to local residents who requested this service.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jerry (Gerald) Hermsen, and three children: Thomas (Judie) Hermsen, Barrington, IL; Barbara (John) Lamb, Wauwatosa, WI; and Tria (Jeff) Jensen of Pinellas Park, FL; four grandchildren: Mark (Joy) Hermsen, Jessica (Mike) Vahey, Sara and Kaitlin Lamb; four great-grandchildren: Annelise and Zoe Hermsen, and Anderson and Avery Vahey; brother, Robert P. (Dougie) Sensenbrenner of Park Ridge, IL; sisters: Margaret (Robert C. "Bud") Williams of Appleton and Barbara Cashman of Phoenix, AZ; plus in-laws: Lorraine Schwinn of Minneapolis; Bernard (Barbara) Hermsen of Glenview, IL; Joan (Tony) Groh of Milwaukee; Rosalie (Ernie) Miller of Minneapolis; Paul (Lois) Hermsen of Kaukauna; Imelda Kandler of Little Chute; Marge Miller of Appleton; plus nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Owen K. (Lucille) Sensenbrenner of Tarpon Springs, FL, and James (Ozzie) Sensenbrenner of Milwaukee; and sister, Mary Jane (Tut) Grode of Menasha.

Margaret M. "Toots" Williams, age 90, of Darboy, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 3, 2017, with her family by her side. She was born on November 28, 1926, in Menasha, to the late Rudolph "Rudy" and Barbara (Schaeffer) Sensenbrenner. On February 19, 1949, she married her high school sweetheart Robert C. "Bud" Williams; who preceded her in death on January 24, 2012.
Her determination, drive, and love of life were apparent at a young age. In high school she was president of her junior class, member of the junior Red Cross council, magazine campaign manager, and served on numerous committees. She attended the University of Minnesota, majoring in English. She worked at Banta Corporation and volunteered at Theda Clark Hospital.
Mom's greatest gifts were her love and sense of humor. She was the rock in our home; supporting Bud's career and raising seven kids. She always put others before herself. All who had the privilege of knowing her immediately fell in love with her. She always said, "you have to have a sense of humor to get through life" and she loved to share jokes.
Mom's greatest blessing was her faith. It is difficult to say goodbye to a woman who is loved by so many, but as Toots often said, "Promise me that when I die there will be a celebration as it will be my "Victory Day" when I can be with God and the love of my life, Bud". Mom, today we celebrate you; your strength, your guidance, and your love.
Bud and Toots joined Prince of Peace Lutheran Church when they moved to Darboy in 1998 and built their third home. For 20 years, the Snowbirds enjoyed their winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama, where they walked for miles on the beach and welcomed visits from the family.
Survivors include their seven children, John (Lynne) Williams; Mary Williams; Jane Ebben; Charles (Rebecca) Williams; James (Debra)Williams; Robert (Lori) Williams; Anne (Robert) Betz; 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; her sister, Barbara Cashman and her brother-in-law, Jerry Hermsen.
Friends and family can join us in celebration of Toot's life at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 11, 2017, at PRINCE OF PEACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2330 E. Calumet Street, Appleton, with Rev. Roger McQuistion officiating. The family will be greeting family and friends at a luncheon in Toot's honor following the service. Schaefer, The Honorable Nicholas F.
Nicholas Schaefer, Appleton, Age 79, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at Rennes Health Center. He was a resident of Appleton his entire life. Nick was born January 30, 1928, the son of the late Steve and Sarah (Shemanski) Schaefer. He graduated from Marquette University School of Law, earning his Doctorate of Jurisprudence degree in 1953. Nick was elected District Attorney of Outagamie County in January of 1961, and served until April 1968, when he was appointed to fill out the unexpired County Court term of Judge G.J. Keller. He was then elected as County Court Judge in 1968, and served the court until 1977, when he became Branch 3 Circuit Court Judge. He retired from the bench in 1987. He was a parishioner at St. Therese Catholic Church, and during his lifetime was very involved in numerous community civic and fraternal organizations.
Nicholas is survived by his sister, Sally Schaefer Hatch (Bill Hatch), Landisville, Penn., his brother-in-law, Mike Dunford, Hopewell, Va., and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary Ann Schaefer (Benjamin) Ewers, Genevieve Schaefer Dunford, and Florence Schaefer (Thomas) Hinton.
The funeral mass for Judge Schaefer will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2007, at ST. THERESE CATHOLIC CHURCH, corner of Wisconsin Avenue and Morrison Street, with Father William Hoffman as celebrant. Entombment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Michels, Nathan P.Nathan P. “Mike” Michels, Appleton, age 74, passed away at Cherry Meado ws with family by his side on Sunday, October 10, 2004. He was born in Chi ppewa Falls, WI on April 10, 1930, son of the late Alois and Mary (Swatzin a) Michels. Mike graduated from St. John’s Catholic High School in Litt le Chute in 1948. He then proudly served in the United States Army, statio ned in Guam. On August 8, 1959, he married Pamela Rief at St. Pius X Catho lic Church, Appleton. He was employed for 42 years as a pressman and retir ed from James River Corporation in 1991. Mike was a devout husband, fath er and grandfather. He was involved with Babe Ruth and Little Leag ue as a coach for many years. His other interests included woodworking a nd spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, gardening and bird watching.Mike is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pamela; children: Tracy (Bria n) Tierney of Appleton, Terry (Michelle) Michels of Oshkosh; grandchildre n: Caitlyn and Taran Tierney, and Nathan, Chad and Kyle Michels; and an au nt, Florine (Donald) Zwiefelhofer of Stanley, WI. He is further surviv ed by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his sister, Junilla Corry of Menasha.The funeral liturgy will be at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 200 4, at ST. BERNADETTE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2331 East Lourdes Drive, Appleton, w ith Fr. Harold Berryman officiating. Friends will be received at the chur ch from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at St. Jo seph Cemetery, Appleton.The family extends a special thank you to Theda Care at Home Hospice, espe cially Amy, and to Chris and Jim at Cherry Meadows Hospice for their cari ng and compassionate care.

Obituary:
Lawrence "Larry" M. Corry, age 66, of Appleton, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. On March 21, 1949, Lawrence Michael was born in Neenah to Edward and Junella (Michaels) Corry. He graduated from Menasha High School and went on to receive an Associate's Degree as a Dietary Technician. Larry was married to Joyce Daczyk and they divorced in 1990. On June 30, 2007, he married Laura Aoacaabeno in Appleton. He was a volunteer fireman with the Town of Harrison for a time. Larry enjoyed his years as a member of the Appleton Curling Club, and loved deer hunting with his late uncle Nathan. Larry was a tavern owner for a number of years, operating Larry's Lakeside Tavern and Bradley's. He enjoyed bartending, and did so for many years at Park Central in downtown Appleton.
Larry will be greatly missed by his wife, Laura; his children: Jesse (Robin) Corry and Amber Pfeiffer; his grandchildren: Nathan, William, Estelle, Jeffrey Jr., and Jackson; his sisters: Fran (Carlton) Counard and Michelle (Dave) Wichmann; a brother-in-law, Ken Ellis; Laura's family and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy; a sister, Mary Ellis; and a very special uncle, Nathan Michaels.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 213 E. Wisconsin Avenue in Appleton with Fr. William Hoffman officiating. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 10:00 am until the hour of the Mass at the church.
