This William J. Foote is my father. His father and my grandfather, William J. Foote "W.J." is the dentist from Hartford, WI who married Nellie Foote of Chilton and settled in Appleton. That's William James Foote. My dad, William John Foote, graduated with a B.S. from Lawrence College in 1934 (Appleton High School class of 1930). He was a Ph.D. but his degree was a Paper Chemistry Ph.D. from the Institute of Paper Chemistry at Lawrence (1938). Both dad & grandpa went by "W.J.". You list his undergrad as being 1935. I suppose that's possible but isn't what we were told. He only kept the 1934 Lawrence yearbook and his photo is in there as a Senior. He won 'the Specter Cup' in 1934 as the college's "Outstanding Senior", and the cup is sitting on my shelf. I just checked and it does say 1934 & Senior.
