    Obituary:
Appleton - Marion Louise Leisering, 90 years and 11 months of age, passed away in Appleton at Carolina Assisted Living on March 26, 2018 due to the effects of multiple strokes. Marion was born in Appleton on April 20, 1927, daughter of Meta (Kretschmann) and Gustav Leisering. She lived in the home her father built on Harriman Street until 2016 when she moved to Touchmark and then in 2017 to Carolina
Marion began her working career as a secretary at Kimberly Clark financing her way through Oshkosh State College earning a BS in secondary education and then going on to UW Milwaukee for a Master's Degree. Her teaching career began at Neenah High School where she taught English and French. When she moved to Kaukauna High School she taught and served as Assistant Principal. When retired from teaching, she again took a job at Kimberly Clark as an Administrative Assistant in the Legal Department. After working at paying jobs, she continued to use her knowledge, skills and interest to help organizations in the Fox Valley, volunteering at Hearthstone House Museum, LEAVEN, St. Vincent de Paul, and serving on Lutheran Homes' Board of Directors and Fox Valley Symphony League.
Marion was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton. For a number of years she attended St. Paul Lutheran in Neenah before returning to Zion in her last years. She was very active at both churches, singing soprano and playing bells in the choirs, serving on committees and teaching religious classes. At Zion she was a strong supporter of and contributor to the organ restoration project. Music was a passion and besides singing and playing the piano she was thrilled to be part of the violin section of the Fox Valley Symphony for a number of years.
Marion had many hobbies including almost all needlecrafts. She was an active member of Embroiderer's Guild and Knitter's Guild. She loved reading and learning and often memorized sayings, jokes and poems to share with others. She had a remarkable memory. She also enjoyed working in her garden and fulfilled the requirements to become a Master Gardener. She loved watching the birds in her yard and was a proud cat owner for many years.
Marion is survived by nieces Kristene and Ann Sager, cousin Mary Kay Smith and her children and Leisering relatives. She was proceeded in death by her parents, sister and brother-in-law Dody and Ken Sager, brother and sister-in-law Eddie and Esther Leisering, brother Herbert, Aunts and Uncles she felt very close to and, of course, her beloved cats.
The funeral service for Marion will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 11:00 at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, 912 N. Oneida St. A time of visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of service. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Marion used all of her talents and resources to give support to her community and truly made a difference. She will be missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Marion's name to the Zion Organ Fund, Hearthstone House Museum, or a nonprofit of your choice.
The family would like to thank all of her caregivers at Carolina Assisted Living and Compassus Hospice Care and her friends who prayed, visited, and sent cards during a difficult time.
