Obituary:
Appleton - Myra Vander Heiden (nee Root), age 70 passed away at home after a long battle with COPD in the loving arms of her daughter, Becky and her partner, Tessa. Myra was born on 12/3/47 in Huron, SD to Jessie and the late Harold Root.
Myra married Don Vander Heiden on May 4th, 1968. She worked at Federal Crop Insurance in Huron, SD and was transferred at age 18 to Washington, DC for a number of years where she met Don. She then worked for the Federal Housing Association upon moving to Appleton and also started a dairy farm for a number of years. She also worked at the Out-O-Town Club, then Menards, where she retired in 2016. Myra enjoyed doing crafts, playing cards and spending time with family, her grandchildren and dogs. During her retirement, she enjoyed doing her word search and playing games on her tablet.
She is survived by her daughter, Becky (Tessa Peters) Vander Heiden, a son, Brad Vander Heiden, 5 grand-children: Cody Hietpas, Tyler Mader, Alexis Mader, Mariah Vander Heiden and Marissa Vander Heiden.
She is further survived by her mother, Jessie Root, sister: Rita (Tom) Nagan, brothers: Doug (Shelly) Root, Russell (Dee Arnott) Root, and Don (Betty) Root; sisters-in-law: Donna (Steve) Wynia, Carol (Bob) Wall; brothers-in-law: Jerry (Terry) Vander Heiden, Ken (Debbie) Vander Heiden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, Harold Root, brother, Rick Root, and 3 children, an infant son, baby Daniel and baby Brian, and her father and mother-in-law, Leo and Mary Vander Heiden.
Memorial services will be held at Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 7:00 pm with Deacon Bruce Corey presiding. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until the time of service. 920-766-2099 www.boettcherfamilyfuneral.com
Becky and Tessa would like to give special thanks to the Theda Care at Home Hospice Team; especially her nurse Amy and CNA Jessica. Additionally, they would like to send a special thank you to the nurses on the 8th floor at AMC. The family would also like to thank Aunt Julie for helping care for mom when Becky and Tessa couldn't be there.
