See Image Madison - Pauline Elizabeth Burns, age 90, died on Saturday, March 3, 2001. Pauline was born on March 29, 1910, in Polo, Illinois, to James and Elizabeth Hackett. She graduated from Polo High School and attended Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. She taught school in Freeport, Illinois. On June 18, 1940, she was married to Dr. Edward Burns, who preceded her in death on January 31, 1969. Pauline was a long time member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and a volunteer in Blessed Sacrament School. She was a member of St. Mary's Medical Auxiliary, the Dane County Medical Auxiliary, Pi Beta Phi fraternity and was active with the college chapter and alumni group for many years. Pauline is survived by two daughters, Kathleen (George) Haller of Edwards, Colorado, and Ellen (James) Skatrud of Madison; three grandsons, Michael (Alisa) Skatrud of Needham, Massachusetts, Tyler Haring of New York, New York, and Gregory Skatrud of Washington, D.C. She was preceded in death by her husband, and a brother, Robert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2116 Hollister Ave., Madison, with associate pastor Father Roman Shemayer officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Madison. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. The family wishes to thank all Pauline's dear friends and especially the loving staff at Attic Angel Place for their devoted care and affection. Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament School, 2112 Hollister Ave., Madison, WI 53705; Attic Angel Place, 8301 Old Sauk Road, Middleton, WI 53562; or the chaity of the donor's choice.
