My mom used to babysit for B rad and Doug, their 2 oldest. Many, many years ago the John Rickert Fami ly celebrated a Centennial. I do not have a copy, but recall it was ve ry detailed, with many old pictures. It was an excellent history of the f amily and the area. I suggest you contact Ed or Donna to see if he h as a copy. Jay and Paul, I am reading the data on these individuals that appears to h ave come from Jay, an Ancestry.com tree and WFT Vol 82 Tree 1003.On closer inspection, the birth dates of the three Weber children indica te that she probably married Joe Weber before 1922 and Louis Meyer after 1 927. So I dug deeper and found that the three children were attribut ed to a Joseph B and wife Marie in the 1930 census for Richfield Twp, Wash ington Co., WI.This leads me to conclude that the Ancestry.com tree is for the wrong coup le and Jay and WFT are more correct. Therefore I am dropping the three ch ildren and establishing the 6/01/26 wedding date as being the Meyer weddi ng (as did Jay).I would also guess that the marriage to Weber took place in about 1919 bas ed on their ages and Weber's date of death, but that is a bit of a reach.Do either of you have any idea as to where I should look? Merle Vandenberg, 92, Kimberly, dearly loved by everyone who was blessed to know him, was born to eternal life Sunday, January 31, 2010, at St. Paul Villa, Kaukauna. He was born November 8, 1917, in Freedom, the seventh son and 14th child of Lambert and Elizabeth (Scholl) Vandenberg. Merle married Jayne VandenHeuvel May 9, 1953, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute, and she preceded him in death on July 19, 2009, exactly 28 weeks prior to Merle's death.
Merle was a devoted husband to Jayne and a loving father to Lynne Bishop (Bill Ficken), Spooner; Guy (Deb) Vandenberg, Lino Lakes, MN; and Joy (Steve) Wind, Sleepy Hollow, IL. He was loved deeply by his grandchildren: Aiden and Blake Bishop, Kyle and Gavin Vandenberg, and Kaley and Casey Wind, as well as all his grand-dogs. Jayne and Merle had lived in the same house on Jefferson Place in Kimberly for 52 years.
They were members of Holy Name Parish, Kimberly, for many years, and recently re-joined St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute, where Merle found great peace in attending daily mass. Merle was employed at the Bank of Little Chute (BLC Community Bank) for many years, and Van Zeeland Implement Company prior to that. In his later years, he took great joy in volunteering, first at Holy Name, then with Meals on Wheels, and St. Vincent de Paul. Merle was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran having served in World War II. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. In addition to his God and his family, Merle had a great love for music, and he reminisced about all the bands he saw in his younger days. During their retirement, Merle and Jayne enjoyed spending time at the family cabin on Spooner Lake in Northwestern Wisconsin. There they made fond memories for several summers with their children, grandchildren and new friends.
In addition to his family, Merle is survived by a sister-in-law, Ceil Vandenberg; three brothers-in-law: Harold (Marian), Roman, and Ben (Priscilla) VandenHeuvel; many marvelous nieces and nephews, wonderful neighbors of over 50 years, and many friends. We were truly blessed to have had him with us for so very long, but we will miss him tremendously. He was a genuine inspiration to all who knew him.
Merle was also preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Sarah Vandenberg; eight sisters: Elly (Jack) Hooyman, Jane (Joe Weber) (Louis Meyer), Min (Ott) Verstegen, Ag (Frank) DeBruin "Gramma and Papa Brown," Roselle (Mart) VanAsten, Angeline (Paul) Pairon, Florence (Pete) DeMunck, Myrtle "Snooky" (Jap) Liebergen; 7 brothers: John (Delphina "Dimps"), Joe (Laura), Ted (Mary), Vince (Nell), Elmer "Bummy" (Ena), Gordon "Butch," Aloys "Bud" (Ceil) Vandenberg; three brothers-in-law: Noel (Ellen Hammen), Gus (Nancy Holmes), Roger (Carole) VandenHeuvel; 10 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 4, 2010, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Fr. Bert Ebben officiating. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Freedom. Visitation will be at the Verkuilen Funeral Home, 101 Canal Street, from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and again at the church from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until the time of the mass. Military honors will be performed by the U.S. Army Air Force/Corps and members of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258, Little Chute following mass at the church.

Lois Helen Miller, Our mother, of great beauty, strength and grace, has passed from this life, into eternal life. She is joined with our Creator, now and forever in His loving care.
Lois Helen Miller (nee Vandenberg), age 79, of Kaukauna, Wisconsin, died Thursday, June 28 at home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Lois was born on December 16, 1932, in Little Chute, WI, the first child of the late John and Delphine (De Groot) Vandenberg. She attended Holy Cross Grade School and graduated from Kaukauna High School with the Class of 1951. She was united in holy matrimony to Glen C. Miller Jr. on June 13, 1953, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. The couple lived in Chicago, IL, before moving back to Kaukauna where they raised their family. Lois and Glen celebrated 45 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on May 17, 1998.
Lois was a longtime and faithful member of Holy Cross Parish. She had a deep faith in God and cherished the holy sacraments she received from the Catholic Church: Baptism, Communion, Penance, Confirmation, Marriage, and, recently, Anointing of the Sick.
Lois was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest joy was her eight children and four grandchildren. She took great pride in tending to her home and garden and was a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, and was an excellent seamstress. She also enjoyed 20 years of employment as a dental receptionist and assistant for Dr. Gregory Russo.
Lois is survived by her eight children: Tom Miller of Stockholm, Sweden; Teri (Richard) Hillgenberg of Long Beach, California; Tim (Cheri) Miller of Freedom; Tamra Miller of Appleton; Tracie (Tom) Zuleger of Appleton; Tanya Miller of Plymouth, Minnesota; Ted Miller of St. Paul, Minnesota; and Tyler (Veronica) Miller of Bloomington, Minnesota; by her four dear grandchildren: Melissa Miller of Stockholm, Sweden; Kurt Zuleger of Appleton; Kathryn Zuleger of New Orleans; and Kyle Zuleger of Madison. Lois is also survived by a brother: Lyle (Kay nee Killian) Vandenberg of Kaukauna; a sister: Lisa Kositzke of Hortonville and her fiancé Tom Pawlowski; and a brother-in-law: Robert (Sylvia) Miller of Iron River. Her Godchildren include: Lisa Kositzke, Jill Vandenberg Jest, Charlie Kositzke, Besty Schulenberg, and Rick Regenfuss. Lois is further survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Glen, Lois was preceded in death by an infant son, Toby; stepfather Richard P. Dercks; in-laws Glen Sr. and Ruth (Winge) Miller; sister-in-law: Patricia Miller; brother-in-law: Rick Kositzke, and nephew: Wade Miller.
The funeral Mass for Lois will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, July 2, 2012 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna, WI, with Fr. Donald Zuleger officiating. Floyd Peter Hooyman, from Neenah (formerly of Appleton) age 89, joined his most beloved wife Margaret McMahon Hooyman and his son Thomas G Hooyman internal life on February 11th, 2009. He was a wonderful man and lived his life with compassion, truthfulness, laughter, morality, faith and love for his family. He was born on June 1st, 1919 in Milwaukee to Ellen (Vandenberg) and James Hooyman. He graduated from Kaukauna High School in1938, and was a football end who received a full scholarship to University of Madison for his athletic abilities. He served his country as master sergeant of arms in the army air force in Combat in the South Pacific from January 1942 through November 1945. He served his community through volunteering at Theda Clark Medical Center and the Neenah Public Library among others. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degree. He received a degree in Interior Design and his chosen career was in sales. His dedication was first and foremost to his family.
He will be sadly missed by his children: Dr. Patrick (Diana) Hooyman, Houston; James (Debbie) Hooyman, Stockbridge; Nancy (Wilcox) Hooyman, Denver; Barbara (Jeff) Baker, Sedona, AZ; adoring grandchildren: Nichole (Mike) Byng,Amalia, Eliza, Andrew, Richard (Tabitha), Maggie, Christopher, PJ, Sam, Thomas, Crystal, Lucy and 6 great grandchildren. Floyd was a wonderful brother, and brother in law. He will be sadly missed by Marvin and Julie Hooyman, Green Valley AZ, Eleanor Engel, Appleton, Joanne and Jim Vandenberg, Rothschild WI., Mary Sue and Bob Streck, Menasha, LouiseMcMahon, Kaukauna, a special uncle Merle (Jayne) Vandenberg and many adoring nieces and nephews.

Hooyman "Bud"Kaukauna Alois "Bud" Hooyman began his eternal life with God, family and f riends that preceded him early Wednesday morning, May 23, after successful ly battling Alzheimer's disease for the last few years with dignity and re spect. Bud began his mortal life on June 25, 1920, in the Portland, Orego n, area. The family arrived in Wisconsin in 1929 and Bud has since be en a resident of the Kaukauna area.Bud graduated from Kaukauna High School with the Class of 1938. He was emp loyed at Thilmany Pulp and Paper Company until he enlisted to serve his co untry as a Maintenance Crew Chief Tech Sergeant. Following the servic e, he enrolled at Fond du Lac Business College in preparation for a care er as Inventory Planner at Kimberly-Clark Corporation, where he retir ed in 1982.Bud married the "love of his life" Mary Parman on July 26, 1947, at St. Ma ry's of the Annunciation in Kaukauna. Bud and Mary "danced" their way thro ugh 54 years of loving devotion.Bud was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society, American L egion, Cabaret Dance Club and Countryside Golf Course. He was a man of ve ry deep devoutness to his religion. He served his parish as an usher and l ector prior to his illness. Bud was a proud 30-year volunteer with the S t. Engel, Eleanor Mary (Hooyman)
The angels took Eleanor peacefully to Heaven on June 15, 2015. She was born on February 24, 1922 to James and Ellen (Vandenberg) Hooyman. After graduating from Kaukauna High School in 1939, she co-founded and co-directed the Kaukauna Grignon Players, providing entertaining plays for the surrounding communities.
Eleanor married the love of her life, Norbert Engel, on June 12, 1948. They were blessed with 11 children: Mary (Lee) Hurley, Gerri (Dave) Balliet, Ellen (Tom) Hoover, Sandra (Peter) Zastrow, Susan (Dave) VanBoxtel, Tom (Mary), Paul, Tim (Lisa), Neil (Kelly), Nancy (John) Arndt, and Jack (Kaylene). God further blessed them with 31 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Many enjoyable times were shared by the family camping, as well as church picnics, reunions, and family celebrations. Her children and grandchildren especially enjoyed the pumpkin pies and assorted cakes which she lovingly baked even as she was gradually losing her eyesight.
As if the endless laundry, meals, and a multitude of tasks weren't enough, Eleanor also worked outside of the home at Prange's and Prangeway Department Stores. On her class reunion questionnaire she quipped that she was a mother of 11 children living the life of a lady of leisure. She loved a good joke and enjoyed making others laugh. Occasionally, a priest would use one of her jokes in a sermon. All of us will miss the sound of her laughter. We thank God for the time that we had with her.
Eleanor deeply loved the Holy Eucharist. She devotedly instilled the values and teachings of the Catholic faith in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren throughout their lives. She radiated the Christian spirit of love and concern for others, especially the poor. She had a heart of gold and was kind and compassionate beyond measure. Everyone who met her was impressed by her sweet nature. With her passing, a shining example of holiness is gone from our lives. Mom, please flash the porch lights at the gates of Heaven to welcome us home again.
Eleanor was a member of the Legion of Mary and the Secular Franciscan Third Order.
Eleanor is survived by her children and by her two sisters, JoAnn (James) Vandenberg and Mary Sue (Robert) Streck.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Norbert, and her brothers Floyd, Aloysius, and Marvin.
Visitation will be held at the Wichmann Funeral Home-Laemmrich Chapel at 312 Milwaukee Street in Menasha on Wednesday evening June 17, 2015 from 4 until 7 pm with the Rosary being recited at 7 pm. Visitation again will be held on Thursday morning, June 18, 2015 from 10 am until 11 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 Second Street in Menasha with the Mass being celebrated at 11 am. Burial will take place in St Mary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be given to Father Carr's Place2B, Wisconsin Right to Life, EWTN, and priests' retirement funds.
The family wishes to thank Sandra and Peter Zastrow for taking mom into their home for the last 9 years and for their compassionate and unwavering caregiving. Their selfless dedication merits our gratitude, respect, and admiration. We also wish to thank Paul for his incredible devotion to mom's care and comfort.
Mom and the family sincerely appreciated everyone's prayers, especially the prayers and blessings of the seven priests and the hospital chaplains who visited her during her hospitalization.
Finally we thank Dr. Adeboye, Dr. Johnson, and the nursing staff at St Elizabeth Hospital for their excellent medical care, kindness and support.

Marvin L. Hooyman, age 87 of Green Valley AZ, passed away on June 23, 2012. He was born April 3, 1925, in Portland, OR. to James and Ella (VandenBerg) Hooyman. In 1928 the family moved to Kaukauna, WI. He attended St Mary's Catholic School and graduated from Kaukauna High School. He enlisted in the Navy March 1943. He attended Hospital Corpsman School and attained the rank of Pharmacist Mate 2nd Class. He served in the South Pacific Theatre of War. He was employed at Kimberly Paper Mill, retiring in 1987.
In 1947 he married the first love of his life, Patricia Schell. Together they had five children. In January 1970 tragedy struck, he lost his wife and four children in a house fire, one son survived. In 1971 he met and married the second love of his life, Julie (Karls) Van Abel and gained three stepsons.
Marv was active in Boy Scouts as a Scout Master. During his leadership he helped 13 boys to attain Eagle Scout. He was awarded the St George Medal, which is the highest Catholic award given an adult scout leader. After retirement he volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul, and the Meals on Wheels program.
In 1993 Marv and Julie moved to Arizona. He volunteered at the White Elephant for 18 years. Marv is survived by wife, Julie; son, Gary (Kathy) Hooyman, stepsons, Daniel (Carmen) Van Abel, David Van Abel (Sue Lemons), William (Lynn) Van Abel. Grand children Jaime (Jeff) Brochtrup, Jared (Keri) Hooyman, step-grandsons Joshua (Cami) Van Abel, Brian (Katie) Van Abel, Eric (Amy) Van Abel. Great-grandchildren Garett Brochtrup, Kaitlyn and Nathan Hooyman, Adelyn Van Abel. Sisters, Eleanor Engel, JoAnn (James) Vandenberg, MarySue (Robert) Streck. Brother-in-law James Schell, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Marv was proceeded in death by his parents, his first wife Patricia; daughters Cathy & Sara; sons Michael and Christopher. Brothers, Floyd (Margaret) and Alois (Mary) Hooyman, Mother-in-law Alice (Nooyen) Schell. Brothers-in-law Norbert Engel, Leroy (Patricia) Schell. Sisters-in-law Mary (Bud) Brux, and Margaret Schell.
A Funeral Mass was held in Green Valley, AZ, on June 28, 2012. A Memorial Mass celebrating Marv's life will be at 11:00am Thursday, July 12, 2012, at St. Aloysius Church, 2401 Main Ave. Kaukauna with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday at 10:00 AM until the hour of service. A memorial fund is being established by his son, please make contributions payable to Gary J. Hooyman.

JoAnn Bernadine Vandenberg, 82, Rothschild, passed away peacefully, with her husband, Jim, by her side, on Tuesday, August 2, 2016. She was born on June 26, 1934 in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, the fifth of James and Ellen Hooyman's six children.
JoAnn graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1952. On October 29, 1952, she married the love of her life, Jim Vandenberg. She was a loving and devoted wife. They spent their early married life at Amarillo Air Force Base in Amarillo, Texas, followed by 13 years in Neenah/Menasha, Wisconsin. In 1970, they moved to Rothschild, where they have lived for the last 46 years. JoAnn and Jim were blessed with nine children, 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. They were the light and delight of JoAnn's life. Her family was everything to her. She was the sweetest, kindest, most compassionate, most loving person to all who were privileged to know her. She received her greatest pleasure from doing good for others - from making others happy. Her humorous and fun-loving nature enriched the lives of all those who knew her. She was truly a remarkable person, and she will be missed beyond measure.
She was always an active member of her church, serving in a variety of roles throughout her life, and she had been a member of the Red Hat Ladies Society.
JoAnn is survived by Jim, her loving husband of 63 years, and by nine children: Debbie (Buddy) Gessler, Tomahawk; Jim (Sharon) Vandenberg, Waunakee; Linda (Cliff) Chack, Weston; Cindy (Mike) Schneider, Ellison Bay; Brenda (Jon) Stieber, Oconomowoc; Amanda (Scott) Jensen, Chetek; Sheila (Todd) Breske, Eagle; Victoria (Mike) Mathisen, Dellwood, Minnesota; and Jody (Bryana) Vandenberg, Oconomowoc. She was "Nana" to 18 grandchildren: Cory (Amanda), Alanna (Chris), Adam, Jennifer, Elizabeth, James, Alissa (Scott), Aaron, Katherine, Jeffrey, Emily, Molly, Olivia, Isaiah, Joseph, Angela, Jacob and Sarah, and to six great-grandchildren: Isabella, Charlie, Macy, Sebastian, Ilsabet and Henry. She is further survived by her sister, Mary Sue (Bob) Streck and by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Floyd, Bud and Marvin Hooyman and her sister, Eleanor Engel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Saint Mark Catholic Church, 602 Military Road, Rothschild, WI. The Very Rev. Allan Slowiak will officiate. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 am at the church. A private entombment will be held on Monday, August 8 at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.

Was an extraordinary woman and on July 24, 2016, after 87 years of living a blessed life, said goodbye to this world. She was born March 29, 1929.
On August 18, 1951 she married James Van Stralen. They started their life together in Appleton, WI where they lived and raised six children. They moved to Spokane Valley, WA in the early 90s where she became very active at the St. John Vianney Catholic Church. She was a mainstay in the choir as well as numerous church functions. She also volunteered at the Valley Hospital in Spokane Valley, just recently obtaining a 5,000 hour volunteer certificate of which she was very proud. Her passions were crafting, luncheons with her lady friends, her church activities and volunteering. She was an accomplished seamstress, knitter and quilter. Between everyone in her family, they own many potholders, sweaters, scarves, hats and baby afghans. Affectionately, she never missed a date or occasion for sending cards and letters.
She leaves behind her husband Jim, sons Jim and Judy Van Stralen, Stuart and Sandi Van Stralen, and daughters Kay Woodworth, Ann Johnson and Lois Meyer and her brother Dellas and Beverly Vandenberg. She has 12 grandchildren: Kari, Christopher, Eric, Paul, Joe, Tessa, Heather, Holly, Jessica, Dylan, Jake and Evelyn and five great-grandchildren: Lily, Liam, CJ, Olivia and Brandon. She was preceded in death by her son, Russell Van Stralen, her parents Joseph and Laura Vandenberg and a brother, Jimmie Vandenberg.
Special friends she wanted to appreciate are Ruby and Dan Casey, Kay and Carlie Schwebs, her cousin Dolores Holmes, Arleen Sprague, her special friend from church, Mary Beth and Glenn Jenson from Stiles, WI, and her cousin Lynn Bishop from Minnesota.
Mom, you were loved and will be missed. Special kiss from Dad.

Jean Elizabeth Grosek, age 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Jean was born in Little Chute on August 4, 1925, daughter of the late Otto and Min (Vandenberg) Verstegen. She graduated with the class of 1943 at St. John High School, Little Chute. She so enjoyed her 10 years of girlhood dance lessons. Piano lessons stayed with Jean and she enjoyed playing the organ and piano all through her life.
On September 16, 1950, Jean was united in marriage to Henry Grosek. The couple enjoyed 51 years together until Henry's passing in 2001. Volunteering was a way of life in the Grosek family. Jean volunteered many years at area nursing homes and also helped at St. Pius Catholic Church with various events. A real love was helping out at St. Vincent de Paul in Appleton for over 30 years. The couple enjoyed 51 years of faith, love, happiness, and fun until Henry's passing in 2001.
First, and foremost, was the love that Jean and Henry had for their family: daughter, Faye (Steven) Grosek-Woods, Neenah; sons: Don (Beth) Grosek, Neenah and Dick (Terry) Grosek, Appleton; 6 grandchildren: Tech Sgt. Adam (Bridgette) Grosek, New Mexico, Eric (Katie) Grosek,Neenah, James Grosek, Boston, Tina Grosek, Neenah, Angela Woods, Appleton, and Alissa Woods, Illinois; 3 great grandchildren: Cade, Morgan, and Caitlyn Grosek; 2 brothers: Roger (Eunice) Verstegen, Oshkosh and Bob (Terri) Verstegen, Kimberly; 1 sister: Ione French, Green Bay; 2 brothers in law: Harold Mischler, Gillett, Harold Becker, King. She was further survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Min Verstegen; 2 sisters: Yvonne Hietpas and Beverly Mischler; 3 brothers in law: Bill Hietpas, Dean French, and George Grosek; sister in law, Marie Becker; and father and mother in law: Ted and Helen Gosek.
A memorial service will take place at 2 pm on Monday, December 23, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St., with Father Thomas Farrell officiating. Friends may visit on Sunday from 1 to 3 pm at St. Pius X Catholic Church, and again on Monday from 1 pm until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. John Catholic Cemetery, Little Chute. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Outagamie County 4-H and the Gardens of the Fox Cities.

De Pere - On the 64th anniversary of her marriage to the late Dean French, Ione C. French, 83, of West De Pere passed away peacefully surrounded by her children. She was born October 9, 1934 to the late Otto and Wilhelmina (Vandenberg) Verstegen. A native of Little Chute, Ione lived in West De Pere, raising her children, while working at the Lee Store, and later at Sears. She volunteered her time at Curative Workshop, where she received a volunteer award. Ione also volunteered much of her time at St. Joseph Church and School (Our Lady of Lourdes) as well as area hospitals. It was the time spent with her children and grandchildren that meant the most to her though.
Ione is survived by her children; Dan (Lynne) French, Dale (Polly) French, D'Anne Kozloski, D'Onne (Jim) Murray, as well as her grandchildren; Kayley (Jared), Tom (Kendra), Alyssa (Tom), Hannah, Cori'Anna (Tyler), Abigail, Michael, and great granddaughter Cohley.
She is further survived by her brothers; Roger (Eunice) Verstegen, Robert (Terri) Verstegen, brother in law; Harold Mischler, and sister in law Sharon (Gary) Steiner, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Darlene C. Backus, age 76, of Kaukauna, died on Monday, July 14, 2008, at Colony Oaks Care Center, surrounded by family and friends. Darlene was born on August 11, 1931. Her parents Vince and Nell (Bies) Vandenberg preceded her in death. Darlene married James Backus on August 12, 1968, in Appleton, and he survives her. She enjoyed working at Gimbles, Pranges' and Kohls. Darlene loved traveling, and enjoyed hot fudge sundaes with her grandchildren. She belonged to the T.O.P.S. club for many years. Her favorite pastimes were bird watching, shopping and bowling. She also loved cats and dogs.
In addition to her husband, Darlene is survived by her children: LaVonne (Pat) Frank, Winneconne; Rick (special friend Sheldon Shur), Milwaukee; David (Cindy) Neenah; Carol (Steve) Bowden, Appleton; Ann (Rick) Gehl, Stockbridge; and Scott (Julie), of Kaukauna. Kaukauna - Joyce M. Bouressa, age 88, of Kaukauna, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, December 31, 2017, at the Country Villa in Freedom, where she resided the last four years. She was born in Little Chute on May 31, 1929, daughter of the late Frank and Agnes (Vandenberg) De Bruin. Joyce married Donald "Shy" Bouressa and together they had four children.
Joyce was well known for making bread and buns and giving them to anyone who would take them. She also made suckers and donated them by the hundreds to local benefits. Joyce literally gave the coat off her back to someone in need. She was the definition of love.
Joyce could often be seen driving her blue scooter around town. She loved to sing and was devoted to her Lord and Savior. She would often lead the rosary at the Country Villa.
Joyce's children were her life, and her grandchildren her pride and joy. She loved taking her grandkids to the Santa Claus parades and having them over for sleepovers. Joyce was the family taxi driver and her home always had an open door, everyone was welcome at all times. Joyce's loving nature, huge heart and quick wit will be truly missed.

Little Chute - James H. "Jim" De Bruin, age 84, of Little Chute, passed away on February 13, 2018, surrounded by many loved ones and the love of his life, Dolores "Mum". He was born in Little Chute, son of the late Frank and Agnes (Vandenberg) De Bruin. On June 30, 1954, Jim married Dolores Vande Hey at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute, and together they have shared 64 years of marriage.
Jim lived to work. He was a very hard worker, and very proud of the work he did as a pipefitter. He enjoyed talking shop with the guys and treated everyone the same on the job. Jim enjoyed polka music, big band music and playing his trumpet in local bands. Most of all, Jim loved his family. He loved when the whole family could get together. He especially enjoyed family trips such as Super Bowl XXXI, Disney, Europe, Kentucky, New York, Yellowstone, and many others, whether near or far. They will truly miss his laughter, jokes, help with around-the-house projects, and "Santa".

Mark V. Vandenberg, 64, of Little Chute, passed away peacefully with his loving daughter at his side on Thursday, April 7, 2016. He was born December 7, 1951, son of the late Aloys "Bud" and Lucille (Van Gompel) Vandenberg.
He shared his love for music singing for many years with the Fox Valleyaires Barbershop Chorus and was musically inclined. He enjoyed playing guitar, banjo, and piano, entertaining others, working in agriculture, travelling, attending the EAA and car shows. Mark was a member of the Allouez Assembly 4th Degree Honor Guard and past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council 10919.
Mark is survived by his daughter, Danielle Vandenberg, siblings: Joan (Al) Hangartner, Dennis (Sheryl) Vandenberg and Karl (Mary) Vandenberg, along with his nieces, nephews, other relatives, and cousin Jim Mischler who was one of Mark's best friends and many other friends.

Mae Schommer, Freedom, age 81, entered eternal life on Wednesday October 24, 2012 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Freedom on March 2, 1931 to the late Albert and Mary (Vandenberg) Geurts. Mae married Jack Schommer at St. Nicholas Parish on August 18, 1951. She loved to travel, whether it was winter trips to California and Florida or trips abroad. Her favorite trip was to Medjugorie. Mae's faith played a large role in her life, praying the rosary daily. She was active at St. Nicholas Parish where she sang with the funeral choir and belonged to numerous prayer groups. Mae loved to socialize and will be remembered as the life of the party that appreciated a good martini. She enjoyed her three Bridge clubs and playing Sheephead. In younger years, she golfed and bowled. Mae was a member of the Freedom VFW Women's Auxiliary and the Freedom Historical Society. She was employed for many years at Schenck and Associates and loved her job and co-workers.
Mae is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jack; children: Susan (Terry) Muenster, Seymour; Bill "Baldy" (special friend Sandi Ryan), Florence; Bob (Donna), Freedom; Rick (Cindy), Freedom; and Stacey, Stevens Point; grandchildren: Jason (Leah), Kristin and Cody (special friend Marsha) Muenster, Nicole, Craig, Eric, Brett, Adam and Alyssa Schommer; great grandchildren: Zachary, Jacob and Elliana Muenster; brothers and sisters: Ivo (Mary) Geurts, Eileen Weins, Ursie (Jerry) Zwiers and Joe (Shirley) Geurts; and sister-in-law: Rita Geurts. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mae was preceded in death by her grandchildren: Derrick and Annie Schommer; sister and brother: Marge (Joe) Rosenberg and John Geurts; and members of Jack's family.
Visitation will be held Monday October 29, 2012 at O'CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main Little Chute) beginning at 4:00 p.m. until time of Vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday October 30, 2012 at ST. Charlotte A. Boone, age 82, passed away on December 15, 2012, at Brewster Village with her family by her side. She was born on November 28, 1930, in Appleton, the daughter of Clarence and Margaret (Paltzer) Schuh. She graduated from Appleton High School. Charlotte was united in marriage to Gerald Boone on October 4, 1956 at St. Therese Catholic Church in Appleton. Charlotte's lifelong hobby and passion was music. She taught accordion lessons at Hager Music, and later taught piano and keyboard lessons at Henry's Music and out of her home. Charlotte played in many bands, starting with The Blue Notes and her last gigs were with The Geriatric Jazz. Charlotte also enjoyed singing in the choir at St. Pius X with her friends. She thought it was very important to acknowledge all of her friends and family's birthdays, sometimes using homemade cards with the flowers that she photographed. Charlotte loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
Charlotte is survived by her husband, Gerald of 56 years, two children, Darryl (Jane) Boone and Renee (Don) O'Malley, five grandchildren, Katie, Shelly, Mason, Joel and Marty, one great-granddaughter, Hailey, one brother, David (Rosemary) Schuh, one sister, Barb (Ron) Murphy, one sister-in-law, Sherrill Kleinhans, and two aunts, Marce Paltzer and Elaine Brandt. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Andy Schuh, one brother-in-law, Burl "Buzzy" Boone, further preceded by many aunts and uncles.
Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 West Marquette Street. She married William A. "Bill" Herrick II on August 5th, 1952 and resided in Appleton, Wisconsin. Don Schuh, age 67, passed away from complications of diabetes at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay on Saturday, March 19, 2011. Don was born in Green Bay on May 18, 1943, son of the late Sylvester and LaVern (Puls) Schuh, and for the past several years had been a Green Bay resident.
He is survived by four sisters: Doris (Gene) Gilbert of Green Bay; Jan (Ron) Conrad of Appleton; Connie (Tom) Latimer of Appleton; and Lisa (Eric) Kramer of Appleton. There are also many nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and by his dear friend and companion Janet Gamache.
A family memorial service was held on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, and Don will be buried at Highland Memorial Park.

He was born on April 16, 1932, in Gre en Bay, WI, the son of Nic and Vi (Newhouse) Liesch. On May 14, 1952, he m arried the love of his life, Dolores Jansen. For 43 years, he was employ ed as a welder at Pierce Manufacturing, retiring in 1995. Throughout his l ife, Vern touched many hearts, no one being a stranger to him.His favorite place on earth was the "deer shack" in Argonne, WI, whe re he was a member of the Freedom Gun Club. He enjoyed meeting new peopl e, whether he was tending bar, bowling, playing pumpkin ball or just hangi ng in his garage. He loved and was loved by his family and friends and tre asured the times spent with them, including camping, relaxing at Marvin 's cottage, or fishing and hunting with Chesty and the boys. No matter whe re he was, Vern was the "life of the party," with his wisecracks, stori es and love of singing. Every one of his children was special to him a nd he cherished the times he had with his 18 grandchildren. Charles "Charlie" Kositzke, 26, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 13, 2015.
Charlie was born on December 10, 1988 in Appleton to Rick and Lisa (Dercks) Kositzke. He completed the plumbing apprenticeship program through Rock Road Plumbing at Fox Valley Tech and currently enjoyed working for R J Parins. Charlie excelled at trap and sporting clay shooting, competed at the Badger State Games and was a member of the Outagamie Conservation Club. He also enjoyed four wheeling, snowmobiling, country music and hanging out with his friends, but his true passion was goose hunting. Charlie enjoyed taking hunting trips to North Dakota with family and friends. Charlie had many friends and everywhere he went, it seemed he knew someone. He had a heart of gold and was always there to lend a hand.
Charlie is survived by his mom, Lisa (fiancé Tom Pawlowski) Kositzke, three brothers; Nick (Katie) Kositzke, Eric Kositzke, and Greg (Sandy) Kositzke, nephews; Ethan, Owen, and Hunter Kositzke, his grandmother, Doane Kositzke, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his father Rick, maternal grandparents; Delphine and Richard Dercks, and paternal grandfather, Robert Kositzke.

Hooyman, Thomas G. PhD, Some people live their lives as if each day were there last, Tom lived his life as if it were his first; with anticipation and joy. He was called to eternal life on November 20 when he suffered injuries due to an automobile accident.
Tom is survived by his wife Nancy W. Hooyman, MD, his sons whom he adored: Andrew and Christopher; his dear father, Floyd Hooyman of Neenah, sister, Barbara Hooyman (Sedona, AZ) Baker, brothers: Patrick (Houston, TX) and Jim (Chilton, WI); brother-in-law, Jeff, sisters-in-law: Diana and Debbie; in-laws: Robert and Melba Lee Wilcox; nieces: Nichole, Crystal, Lucy, Maggie, Eliza and Amalia; nephews: Rickey, Tommy, Sammy, and PJ; niece-in-law, Tabitha, nephew-in-law, Mike, great-nephews: Damian, Dakota, Caden, Isaiah, and Liam and great-niece Delancey.
He joins his dear mother Margaret McMahon Hooyman and cherished sister-in-law Pam Hooyman in heaven.
Tom had an accomplished career. At the time of his death he was associate professor of Health Care Ethics in the Rueckert-Hartman College for Health Professions at Regis University. His greatest passion was teaching. He began his career pioneering the field of medical ethics at St. John's Mercy Medical Center as one of only three clinical ethicists in the country. Tom also held positions as Vice President of Theology and Ethics at Catholic Health Initiatives in Denver, CO and was President of his own ethics consulting firm, Ethically Speaking. His greatest happiness in life came from his family. His sons were perfect joy to him. We will miss his warmth and great sense of humor. He was extremely active in the community; a member and past president of the Cherry Creek chapter of Rotary International in Denver, enthusiastic basketball referee and member of the National Speakers Association. Tom was most proud of his recent appointment as chairman of the Ethics Committee to the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta.

Obituary:
Rodney Francis Hietpas, age 64, of Kaukauna passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Rodney was born on August 15, 1951, in Appleton, son of the late William and Yvonne (Verstegen) Hietpas. He graduated from Little Chute High School in 1970 and went on to work for Appleton Coated Locks Mill for 41 years. On February 5, 1972, Rodney married the love of his life, Nancy Diedrich. They would share 44 wonderful years of marriage and raise two daughters together.
Rodney enjoyed fishing at Pelican Lake with his good friends Guy, Cindy and Muff. He also loved working the land for Jeff, going out to breakfast with Gary, and talking about new projects with Pete out in the shop. He had a passion for welding, pouring concrete and building anything from bridges to sheds. Mowing the lawn with his John Deere was something Rod also loved to do. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.
Rod is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Hietpas; his daughters: Penny (Patrick) Kelly and Katie (Joe) Kelly; he is further survived by his precious grandchildren who adored him and called him "Big Papa": Aiden and Alex Kelly, and Paige and Payton Kelly; his brothers: Keith (Kelly) Hietpas and Kurt Hietpas; sisters: Pam (Juris) Grinbergs, Patti (Art) Dworak, and Brenda (Special friend Todd Simoens) Van Asten; sisters-in-law: Barb Hietpas, Vicki Hietpas, and Judy Diedrich; brothers-in-law: Marty (Linda) Diedrich, Randy (Donna) Diedrich, Kevin (Nancy) Diedrich and Todd (Jodi) Diedrich; as well as his special nephew Andy Hietpas. He is further survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father: William and Yvonne; his brothers: Rick, Bill, and Tim; an infant sister: Kay; god child: Carla; mother and father-in-law: Ann and Austin Diedrich; sister-in-law: Kerrie Diedrich: and his good friend Tom Sprangers.
The Funeral Liturgy for Rod will be held at 12:15 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer St. Kaukauna, with Father Tom Pomeroy officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Rod's name.
Rodney's family would like to thank the ICU nursing staff and doctors at St. Elizabeth Hospital for all of their kindness and support.

Timothy J. Hietpas, Freedom, age 55, died Saturday August 20, 2011 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on October 23, 1955 to the late William and Yvonne (Verstegen) Hietpas. Tim married Barb Look on November 19, 1974. She was the love of his life and tireless supporter. He was employed at Appleton Coated. Tim loved the outdoors, particularly hunting, fishing, camping and watching the birds and butterflies in his yard. He cheered for the Packers and was a fan of Brett Favre's. Tim was a proud grandpa and cherished time spent with his granddaughters.
Timothy is survived by his wife of 36 years, Barb; children: Carla (Dan) Howard, Neenah; Rose (Kevin) Erdmann, Presque Isle; and Andy (Laura), Little Chute; granddaughters: Faythe Carissa and Kaylee Erdmann; brothers and sisters: Rick, Rod (Nancy), Pam (Juris) Grinberg, Kurt, Keith (Kelly), Brenda Van Asten and Patti (Art) Dwork; father and mother-in-law: Joe and Rosella Look; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Vicki Hietpas, Ken (Karen) Look, Jean (Dan) Mittag, Diane (Don) Verbruggen and Jackie Look. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by his siblings Bill and Kay Hietpas; and brother-in-law Gary Look.
Visitation will be held Wednesday August 24, 2011 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. A special thank you to the family, friends, neighbors and caregivers that have brought in food and supported the family. God bless you all. Also, thank you to all the doctors and staff at St. Elizabeth, Appleton Medical Center, Oncology. Hope is a wonderful thing. You have always provided it.
Eventually, I had to make peace with the fact that cancer would take my life. I have been diligently working the best plan I could to fight it. When I died, at least I would know I fought the good fight and gave it my all.
